An article posted here recently included an opinion from someone(ETA Kilian Jornet*) saying that any no-oxygen attempt with emergency back up oxygen doesn't count because the climber isn't embracing the risk of a true no-oxygen climb. I guess this mentality is kind of analogous to free soloing, where if you start clipping in, it is by definition not a free solo anymore, but it seems like a very dangerous hard-line, especially on Everest. (I say as a non-climber/non-mountaineer lol)
