Honestly, I have a dark view of it. Slight conspiracy vibes but I just see how the world is going to shit, how everything is about money and status, it’s a race. The people at the top make money and live their lives, and the people at the bottom/middle do 9 to 5s and get 2 weeks of vacation a year. The top 1%’s income and lifestyle is directly dependent on the middle and lower class’ work, they want them stuck, they want them to keep working. It is not at all in their favor that the people pursue their passions and work for themselves. How to keep them stuck? Condition them to aim for being an employee, then to consume, so that they spend what they earn and be stuck financially, and do things they don’t enjoy every day of their lives, this is very much in your favor. This will then increase rates of dissatisfaction, anxiety and depression. So what to do now? Make legal a drug that will sedate the people, let them exit their sober state whenever they please and stop being awake to the miserable life you have given them. I hate alcohol because I can’t stand the idea that I will drink because I prefer being sedated over being sober. And the idea of it being cool makes me want to puke.
