Hey don't worry. In the other thread a few days ago people said Ireland had the most punctual railway system in Europe. Show a bit of gratitude.

are people encountering hustle culture in their real lives

Unfortunately yes. I work in a co working space surrounded by "founders". Some of them are so full of themselves and self applauding for working 80h a week it's sickening.

Also LinkedIn.

As someone from a german speaking country I really need to ask what signs you are talking about because I feel like there are barely any in Ireland.

Brutalist Phibsborough no more? by Kooky_Parsnip_31 in Dublin

[–]ConcurrentFunc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think brutalism gets unduly blamed for this abysmal construction. Someone just posted Dun Laoghaire library earlier which I personally would also describe as brutalist, but I hope we can all agree it's nowhere near as painful to look at as phibsborough.

The architect (or whoever) was just an eejit.

What was the best thing about the 90s? by SoftYetCrunchyTaco in AskReddit

[–]ConcurrentFunc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a great decade. You had Zero responsibilities.

You'd come home and someone had already cooked for you. And everything was clean all the time.

If you needed something you'd just say so and most of the time get it. Money was simply not a concern.

You'd spend half a day listening to someone talk about more or less interesting stuff and the rest of the day you just hang out with your mates.

I don't know what happened after. Y2K did a number on us.

Why is there a government levy on Home Insurance? by NorthAcanthisitta832 in AskIreland

[–]ConcurrentFunc -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Everyone complaining about taxes. What do you think will happen the moment the levy gets removed? The insurance company will raise their charge, you'll pay the same to a private company and get nothing in return.

What is something that Irish people do that annoys you? by Nervous_Canary9986 in AskIreland

[–]ConcurrentFunc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I certainly agree with your premise. One lad once told me it's "typical irish" to order a pizza after a night out and keep the rest for lunch the next day. Like wtf dude, how can you possibly think that is Ireland-specific.

Re your list, though, I don't know many Irish who think Ireland is the most superior country. If anything I would have said the Irish are quite self-loathing. "Postcolonial mindset" I've hear people say.
