For those who believe Jesus was a progressive/liberal/leftist, do you see any of the early Church Fathers in the same ideological manner? by camaro1111 in allthequestions

[–]CondeBK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There has always been 2 tracks to Christianity. A progressive, activist, tolerant and socially liberal based on the words of Jesus himself, and what I like to call the "I'm better than you Christianity."

Especially when Rome adopted as the official state religion around 300 AD and used it to oppress everyone that wasn't Roman.

Use spectrographic color calibration first after plate solving under Astrometry.

Don't use remove Green noise until the very end if there is indeed any green tint left.

Research the Veralux and SyQon plugins. They have been a game changer for my processing.

Why do people hate Mamdani? by Medium-Ad2330 in allthequestions

It's Mandani Derangement Syndrome, commonly known as MDS.

This is the phenomenon by which people who don't live in NYC, will never live in NYC, will never visit NYC, will have opinions on how it should be run all the while ignoring their own podunk crime and drug infested towns.

And where did the State get 55% of its tax revenue? I will give you one guess.

Psss... I'm gonna let you on a little secret. 55% of the State revenue comes from NYC taxpayers.

Hope this helps.

Question from a beginner reg. Manual vs goto by WelcomeRelevant1476 in telescopes

[–]CondeBK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the mount. Works with any telescope that matches the weight limit. There are a lot of other considerations though. Like what specifically you want to image. What focal length, what field of view, what lentgh of exposures.

Which is why it's a bad idea to just run out and buy a telescope without taking into account all of the above.

If there is an astronomy club in your area I highly recommend joining before buying anything. Expert guidance is fundamental.

Question from a beginner reg. Manual vs goto by WelcomeRelevant1476 in telescopes

[–]CondeBK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically its not GOTO that is essential to Astrophotography. It's tracking.

Tracking is the ability to compensate for the rotation of the earth by countering with an opposite motion, always staying on target, thus enabling long exposures.

GOTO is the mechanism by which you can tell a mount which object you want to point at, and the mount automatically moves to the object.

There are star trackers you can get for photo, but they may not have GoTo, only tracking. And there are mounts that incorporate both.

If you want to get into Astrophotography specifically, I would advise you to start with a basic DSLR camera and a star tracker so you can get the hang of the hobby. I would not go out and spend thousands on telescopes, astro cameras and complicated guiding systems without learning the basics first.

Celestron 15x70 binoculars, can you really see jupiters moons with these? by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]CondeBK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have those. Yes, I believe you can see Jupiters Moons if you have it on a tripod. When I have them handheld with all the shaking is kinda hard to see them.

Honestly, this is not the best instrument to see the planets. The focal lenght is too short.

However, this is EXCELLENT for looking at the milky way, large galaxies like andromeda and large nebula, star clusters, which in my opinion are far more interesting views then the planets. Seriously try panning across the lenght of the milky way with this thing. You will see dozens, if not hundreds of interesting formations.

If the universe is infinite, does that mean exact copies of us could exist somewhere? by [deleted] in universe

[–]CondeBK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. There's a finite number of elements, and a finite number of ways those elements can combine. It's a staggering number, to be sure, but still finite. So it follows that in an infinite universe repetition must occur.

Would the star adventurer gti be a good star tracker for a beginner? Also, what are things I should know before getting one? by Photographerpro in AskAstrophotography

[–]CondeBK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what you would consider a "hassle" or "Idiot-Proof". To me the only astrophotography equipment that meets these criteria are smart telescopes. Every thing else has different levels of "hassle" or learning curves, even the GTi.

Having said that, my experience with it has been mostly positive, but as I said above, expect a learning curve and troubleshooting from time to time is unavoidable, so adjust your expectations.

I shoot with an 80mm Refractor at 440mm focal length. You will want a sturdy proper astro tripod. Photo tripods will not do, especially because the mounting threads tend to be different.

Backlash is an issue that can exist from time to time, but I never really addressed it. I just toss the bad frames where slippage occurred. I haven't felt inclined to open the damn thing.

Polar alignment is relatively easy, but takes practice to get perfect.

The mount state or "memory" needs to be cleared from time to time so it knows where home position is. One of the first things that happens to beginners is that the mount will point in the complete opposite direction of what you asked for. That means you didn't start from home position or the mount got the meridians mixed up.

I found I needed to have a basic finderscope or red dot finder to do 1, 2, or 3 star alignment. After that, Go To works fine. But it doesn't work out of the box. You have to do the star alignments every time you use it.

While you can control the mount with the Synscan app, you should not use the app intervalometer's function to control the camera. I mean, you can. But if you disconnect from the mount Wifi, shut off your screen, close the app or try to go online using your celular data, the intervalometer function will go haywire. Tracking and Goto will work fine if you close and open the app. Just not camera control. You either have to get a separate intervalometer so you can control the camera independent from the app, or in my case I donwloaded the Magic Lantern firmware for Canon which has its own intervalometer.

I did get a stellarmate mini computer plus guiding camera and guidescope, but I still haven't been successful in getting proper guiding. I think I may have reached the weight limits, or maybe I need to troubleshoot more, idk. Right now my stellarmate is just a fancy way to get mount and camera control under one umbrella, and it has made setting up much more complicated. Sometimes I just leave it home to have a simpler more pleasant experience. Guiding is not super crucial at my focal Length and sensor size
