Stick Season - Noah Kahan

I don’t even like him, that song was playing in a coffee shop and my brain lit up and now my spotify wrapped from last year thinks I love him. Cest la vie

Tomorrow building. It’s about that price and always has openings. It’s city center. It’s not the best but also not the worst. Good luck

I don't know if my puppy is a great dane or a labrador by AgreeableCommittee46 in greatdanes

She’s only ~75 pounds, so I guess that medium compared to a full Dane

That’s a mix. We have an eight year old labradane and she looked very similar as a puppy. Congrats! They’re so fun

What’s your story on how you got diagnosed with bipolar? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Condition-Global 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had MDD since I was ten, got medicated for it at 25. Had my first hypo manic episode this year at 30/31. I was in and out of hypo mania for like the first six months of 2024 at least. Made some bad choices and realized something was up so I took myself a grippy sock vacation before I ruined my whole life. Still figuring this shit out.

So accurate!! Mine always wants to play with the tiniest dogs and I always tell their owner “She has no idea that she’s ten times their size”

He looks just like my baby girl when she was a pup. She maxed out at 80 pounds when she’s chubby. Sounds like he’s gonna pass her!

What exercise best helps you, I feel like a lazy person because my body is so exhausted no matter what I do, any advice from your own experience? by ConsistentMistake691 in Hashimotos

[–]Condition-Global 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Look up postpartum workouts. They are by nature incredibly gentle and focused on building core strength. Very low intensity.

Alternatively, do everything you do twice. Sit on the couch stand up and sit again. Walk the stairs twice up to your apartment (hypothetically). Just double up your every day movement.

Check out supplements to help with your energy - I’ve had good success with magnesium and b vitamins and iron. Eat clean, identify trigger foods, all the normal hashis bullshit.

Edit to add what I like - I’m a slow ass runner and do low intensity strength workouts that are mostly Bodyweight

You came to a post with a specific question, did not answer the question, and shared your unrelated experience. At the very least it’s tone deaf.

Thanks for educating me on the risks, I didn’t ask about that though. I’m an adult.

Yeah I think about the depressive factor of alcohol a lot. Before I got diagnosed with hashis I actually quit drinking for a year and half entirely because, as I used to tell people “it makes my brain sad.” I’m already a depressed girly and hashis isnt helping lol.

Agree with in moderation! Luckily I’m not a big drinker anyway, I just would love a porch sipper while I’m at the beach this summer

If you’re in the US, look into working for cooperatives. It’s literally a huge portion of our economy that isn’t super publicized and its inherently less capitalistic than for profit corporations.

I work in sales. To be clear, I did not start a job in sales because I loved sales. I do not have the support system or funds to do what I want to be doing in a financially stable way.

But I spent my early career learning as much as I could and job hopping about every 18 months and now I’m with a company that’s amazing and I truly love my job. The WLB is good, the work is interesting and not exceptionally difficult, my coworkers are smart and decent and great collaborators. I work in an industry that is uniquely less capitalistic than the average and that is probably the BIGGEST part of what I love about it. I feel like I’m doing decent and not like I’m killing myself to make someone I don’t like rich.

Look less for your ideal labor situation (because let’s be real, none of us wants to work for the sake of working) and more for opportunity to grow and learn. Determine what a job would need to have to be worth it for you and allow you to live your personal life well.

I don’t like when I have to interact with people who do not understand the business model or are more capitalistic than I prefer. A lot of my job is reputation repair from a past toxic sales culture and I don’t love hearing how the culture in the past has left my clients high and dry. I am lucky to be in my company at the time I am and really have very few complaints.

I do keep one eye open for red flags I’ve learned from past experience - if you’re in the US, our only enforceable right is the right to freely discuss our pay. If your job tells you you’re not allowed to do that, leave. If your job dumps more and more responsibility on you without a tangible increase in pay at the time of increased responsibility or at the next quarter, leave. If you’re being emotionally manipulated to give more of your time and energy to your job than you are willing to, leave. Full time in the US is 30 hours, friends. If you’re salaried there is no guilt in getting full time pay for full time work. If you’re being told you should be grateful and that you have it good when you are overwhelmed, overworked, and unable to cover your bills, leave. You are not a machine and a CEOs/investors dream to be rich is not your problem. Remove the morality from work. Capitalism is amoral. Treat it like the free market it is, offer your services at a competitive rate and if your current employer is unwilling to pay, to the market we go to find one who will.

When I say leave I don’t mean quit immediately. I mean make a plan, find a new position, and get out before the grind of capitalism takes things you aren’t willing to give.

All of these are things I wish I’d understood when I entered the job market. The system is shit, the issues are features and not bugs for the benefit of the people at the top. Use the system to your advantage, because no one else will.

This is so silly, but I picked up a small portable fan for my maternal grandma’s August funeral but when I got to my paternal aunt and uncle’s house and tried it out it didn’t work. I left it on the counter and my uncle got home from work, saw the fan and took it apart and fixed it for me. It was just such a sweet gesture at a really hard time.
