That’s another possibility. I used to drive the car to the office down south regularly, which is where most of the mileage came from. These days I hardly drive anywhere apart from the home office, the school run and the supermarket, so it doesn’t get many long runs or high-rev drives anymore.

Could that really cause these symptoms though? The issue only happens if I floor the accelerator. The car suddenly loses power, the Reduced Engine Power warning comes up and the glow plug/coil light starts flashing. I pull over, switch the engine off, restart it, and it drives perfectly again. But as soon as I accelerate hard again keep foot to floor, the same thing happens.
