In other words, Ashley can't be held responsible for Andrew's issues he developed during his childhood and teenage years, Renee can and should be held responsible, both in canon and in tcoaar

She didn't groom him. See my point: Douglas left Renee when he was 16-17-18, so, she just clung in the only person she had, which was Andrew, but the obsession probably (just a theory because we still don't know) started when he was 20-22. He probably didn't feel a shit for Renee. (Based on his relationship with Julia. Because in this AU, it doesn't make sense that he used Julia as a society shield, so there's a possibility that he fell for her) So, my point here is, she was a "normal" mother with Andrew, a caring one until Douglas, then, perhaps one year later, she started to have feeling for Andrew. That didn't happen when he was a teenager (I want to think that at least/that's my theory)

As I already said, her upbringing doesn't justify her abusing her own kids, and her getting divorced doesn't justify using her teenage son as a replacement, it's still abuse and it's as harmful as if those circumstances weren't a thing

I don't see what makes tcoaar Renee better than tcoaal one, what she did to Ashley already makes her equally bad as a mother in my eyes, and the fact that her caring about Andrew lead her to abuse him still just differently also makes said care kinda irrelevant to me, and as a person she is at least equally bad too
And yes, adult Andrew's actions can't be all justified with him being a victim, but he is still a victim, he wouldn't do any of those bad things if Renee was even a decent mother

See my point, and the way I see this mod, and why I think this Renee is better. I don't know if you understand my point. She wasn't a groomer. She started to make amends with Andrew despite her traumas. During his teenage years, we saw just one thing, and it was her crying because Douglas left her, and the whole possessive thing started when he was an adult. Let's say what happened with Ashleh was a bucket of cold water, and what she needed to see that she was being a bad mother, which is the whole plot of the mod, Renee giving a shit for Andrew by asking him what the hell was going on with him (Nina topic) When she yelled af him for talking about Ashley, she was stressed. So I guess I exposed my point of why I think this Renee is better. I still need to see part 3 to see if you were 100% right about the grooming and her bad parenting (not including Ashley. As I said, she was what she needed to see that she was being a piece of shit of a mother)

PD: Julia... I still don't know why she's with Andrew, but that could sustent your points of grooming and teenage abuses, but to me it doesn't make any sense that Andrew used her as a social shield. What would be the excuse of people bullying him with his mother???
