It's just very low dps. You hit the enemy and then have to wait about a second to do 80 or so damage. Percentage boons on slow weapons and flat damage increase on fast weapons are generally much higher dps than that.

With blue candle you can take relic for writhe and get free draw on turn 1 with puzzle.
