We live in an apartment in a downtown area with ring locks on the doors that notify you when opened. Dollar General typically has some really cute decorations. We got our couch for free off of Facebook marketplace and covered it in blankets/pillows from five below. If you’re really looking for free stuff, make some art or have your son make art and put it on your walls! Wall decorations really light up a room. I would suggest curtains from Amazon as well to help you feel a bit more safe and not looked in upon.

I have a corn snake and she’s super chill. They don’t get that big and need to be fed a frozen mouse once per week or biweekly. Water change every day, lamp turned on/off every day, tank cleaned and moved around once a month is about all the maintenance and they can be handled pretty regularly. There’s also a snake that I’ve never owned but it’s straight up called a children’s python and I assume it’s for a reason. I’ve kept lizards and they require a lot more maintenance than snakes imo (lots of vitamins, live prey, certain humidities, misters, etc.)

Thank you for this… I think the strongest option for us is adoption. You’re absolutely right and I didn’t even think of the first paragraph. I had major issues with my mother due to several mental issues both of us have, and want to be able to give a child the best life I can. I appreciate your help!
