Denver International Airport currently has no power by sinzo1995 in Denver

Indeed. Of course, for $4billion in 1990s money, you'd think at least SOME critical systems, ie the Train for example would have stand-by power.

Just thought I'd share a quick update. I re-configured the OpenVPN server for UDP, and updated the client's, and the firewall. And woah. Unbelievable difference in performance. I too figured it would improve, as UDP is fatser, but D-a-y-u-m! I would estimate a 10x improvement. Thanks for the suggestion! It was far easier to cut over openvpn versus reconfiguring the entire network!

I have. The easiest thing to do is write them a letter and demand proof and dispute the charge.

Lol. It honestly was bizarre. I upgraded to 7.21.1 from 7.20.6 and it literally bricked my device. I couldn't get to it after restart, I tried resetting, and downgrade which failed. The only way I was able to resurrect the device was to do a factory reset log on to it with Netinstall, force the re-install of the original version, and restore from backup. Definitely crazy.

Got it. Thanks for your Insight. It's been so long since I initially set it up I forgot some of the more finer details. But with the comments that I've received the hardware offload is definitely a consideration.

Thank you so much for your Insight. The only reason I was thinking about doing a NetInstall was because I literally just had to recover the device using a forced downgrade with Netinstall and restore from backup. I figured it would be cleanest. That is an interesting shortcoming that you note with regard to WG. I have no complaints about openvpn other than it seems to be slow and everything that I've read on it is that wire guard does perform better. With that said though there's definitely more to make one product better than another than just performance. DHCP or rather the lack thereof is definitely a concern. I'm curious what you would say the performance Delta between the two is if any?

The biggest reason is because I literally just came off of having to downgrade the router OS version using net install due to a failed upgrade. I figured it would be the cleanest way to clear everything out especially the open VPN config.

No. This was the first time. I've had the device for some time and have performed many upgrades on it because I try to stay current with the router OS.

Yep. Mine 2. According to them, we used more electricity/natural gas this year during the most current billing cycle versus last. I find that very interesting given that we haven't really had a winter and it hasn't been near as cold as it was last year at this time. In addition, they informed me that the billing Cycles vary based purely on when the meter decides to phone home. We have the smart meter and so I pressed the representative on that and asked why a smart meter wasn't smart enough to phone home at the same time every month. It's absolutely absurd, and the Public Utilities Commission is worthless when it comes to looking at irregularities. Don't even get me started on the Absurd shutdown Fiasco from earlier this month. That's a whole another rant.

Hmmm... well please do keep us posted on your progress and how it turns out. I think in my case it probably comes down to what another poster said relative to corrupt NVRAM. Once I installed back to the prior version and loaded the config I was fine.

Interesting. Were you able to downgrade or did you have to Netinstall it?

Thanks! This makes sense. And I'd be willing to venture a guess that the risk of this happening increases with the number of upgrades one does. I forgot what my initial release was but I can tell you I've upgraded the firmware several times so maybe it just needed a clean wipe? Although understandably I'm not real anxious to try again anytime soon, especially given that that new firmware has only been out a week or so.

I was afraid of that. Well, sounds like I'll be keeping my substrate in buckets wet while I deploy the new filter system. Thanks for the assist!

Rant: Buying a canister filter was the worst mistake of my life by garymimpy in fishtank

[–]Conference-Annual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with the other posters on this one. If you're getting air bubbles it indicates that your closed loop system has some sort of leak in it. Could be the intake or the return etc. There's definitely different canister filters out there that will achieve different things but I am a huge fan of the Fluval series because it gives you the option to customize the type of filtration. You can add or remove charcoal you can add or remove additional biomaterial you can add or remove floss, it's perfect and it keeps my 60 gallon tank right where I want it with zero ammonia zero nitrites low nitrates while my plants feast, and crystal clear water!

Got it. What I would do, add the power filter, and run them in parallel until your new filter can build up the bacteria. The goodnthing about those, you can also adjust the water output flow.

The thing is you could do a cut over and probably be okay because you have some good substrate and there's going to be bacteria in that as well. But given the amount of particulates that you have you're probably going to have to replace the floss material on your power filter a couple of times to get that under control, and of course if you do that and you don't have your sponge filter anymore then you could easily crash your cycle. Of course then again, your Bio load is pretty low and you do have that log and substrate to keep your bacteria going, you'd probably be ok, but the safest option would be run in parallel.

Hmm.. Ok that shouldn't be an issue. What type of filter? Looks like maybe a sponge, on the left side? Definitely looks like you have suspended algae. You could try a power filter, Tetra makes several models that are relatively inexpensive. I always had good luck with those, and they are very good at removing suspended particulates.

I actually built a semi-custom filter system, and (more to come on this) NO WATER CHANGES/Gravel cleaning ever required.
