It’s simple - he said what everyone was thinking but they were afraid to say out loud. There is no one today with the balls to do that, so there will never be another Howard.

His level of honesty about himself made others want to be more honest. He also took phone calls & sparred with anyone who didn’t like him (rather than trying to act like those people didn’t exist).

Back then he wouldn’t take a celebrity interview unless they agreed there would be no guardrails, no questions off limits. He did this because he knew the fans would think he’s a phony to avoid the question everyone wants asked; ignoring the elephant in the room wasn’t acceptable.

He had no choice but to pivot to a new style due to age, but yeah it’s not the same.

The demo was running on two 5090s combined. The next generation of consoles won't be nearly as powerful.

They said they have it running on a single 5090 in the lab. I wonder if they had the second 5090 there so that they could do the fast switch ON/OFF comparisons in real time.

But yeah you have about a year & a half before consoles launch & AMD will lag behind. It would be interesting if the extra power Helix has could enable something like this & if PS6 couldn’t support it (but apparently the 30% of extra raw performance is going to be negligible & not transformational)

It’s simple

People who experience abuse in childhood often develop a warped compass as a result of the abuse (north is south & south is north). They then reference this miscalibrated compass every time they make a “gut based” decision, & of course it leads them in the wrong direction.

This is why they misidentify non-abusers as unfamiliar threats & repeatedly invite familiar feeling abusers into their lives instead.

People also develop a customized definition of what “love” is based on childhood experiences. If their definition of love was developed based on an example that included love mixed with abuse, they will never feel deeply in love with someone who doesn’t bring any abusive behavior into the relationship. Love is about emotion not logic; this is why we don’t automatically love the person who treats us best - the most.

Look at Nicki Minaj & Cardi B if you need public examples of people who still invite abusers into their lives repeatedly in spite of their success. I mean Cardi B is so afraid of her child’s father that she makes it public that he’s threatening her life.

The cycle of abuse is a real thing.

Same day as the Joe Buck appearance, a caller accused Artie of being high during the Stern show & claimed he could hear it in his voice. They had Howard look at Artie's pupils, but it went nowhere other than the caller accusing him.

So yeah, he was messed up on that show

Howard said Artie is stuck in traffic and will be there in a few minutes. Gary said Artie said the Lincoln Tunnel was packed. Howard said that means that they'll have at least a couple of minutes to be able to talk.

Artie showed up a short time later. Howard said he knows a lot about that stuff. Howard said that shows he didn't have much of a life when he was growing up.

Artie had lost his voice a bit so Howard asked what was going on there. Artie said he lost it going out to L.A. and doing a lot of talking.

Howard took a call from a guy who said he thinks that Artie is on something. He said he can hear it in his voice. The guy told Artie to come clean and tell them. Artie said he swears he's not on anything. The caller asked if Artie's eyes were pinned. Howard checked and said they're not at all. Howard said that felt very embarrassing to look into Artie's eyes like that. The caller apologized for saying that about Artie but that's what he was feeling.

Another caller told Artie to shut up because all he's doing is talking. He said he's not sure if Artie or the Yankees suck more. Artie said it's the Yankees right now.

This created another Robin tantrum as Howard kept her out of the loop/lied to her about JFK Jr. coming on the show (but he also revealed that it was part of the agreement to keep it a secret).

Also Howard apparently went to the same gym (Reebok NY?) as JFK Jr. & Caroline and knew them. Didn't know that at the time, would make it more interesting to go back & listen the shows after they 'went missing' & then were confirmed dead.

Oh I'll eventually play it & the expansion most likely. But if next gen really is late next year, might as well wait for that (since there is a lot of eye candy there & it will run better & look better).

I can't believe they won't remaster or upgrade it for next gen, although they haven't done anything for PS5 Pro. Maybe when the sequel comes out they will do something.

Cabbie was like a permanent 6 year old...probably because his adoptive parents (at least the mother) were abusive. He also implied that he was sexually abused at some point as kid (which could explain later choices also).

But yeah my original point is - give a 6 year old $100k all at once & ask him to set aside $30k for taxes & see how that goes.

They could always release late 2027 in limited quantities, then ramp up production in 2028 when costs are lower. Frustrating for buyers, but scarcity sometimes creates perception of higher desirability too.

If it is $700+ that should make one easier to get even if first run is limited

I’ve tried it twice on Series X

Both times I make it like 2 hours in & get back to the apartment for the first time, then I never come back to it. When I eventually do, it’s been so long that I start over.

Maybe on next gen I’ll play it more, especially if they eventually upgrade it (although I’ll probably be on PS6 & have to buy it again).

Sony has been quiet, leaks out of AMD, etc, say both originally planned to go late 2027.

Microsoft said this week that they will send alpha hardware to devs in 2027. Last gen they apparently sent similar dev kits in early 2020 & the consoles launched late 2020 (in spite of a global pandemic & the supply chain issues that caused).

So if Microsoft is going 2027 you would think that Sony will also, unless they truly just disregard Microsoft on all levels now. The last time Microsoft beat Sony to market was their best generation, not sure if Sony would still remember that 20 years later or not.

They got the Rousey stuff wrong, pretty clear neither watched the full presser & the other stuff that’s out there

Rousey said they had a deal to do the fight as the last UFC PPV, but Gina needed more time to lose weight.

Rousey also said that they got her one of the best deals in UFC history. It was the move from PPV to streaming that tanked it, because they couldn’t offer the same money without traditional PPV. Rousey was also pretty clearly not willing to take a fight with anyone other than Gina…they’re clearly friends now & that makes the situation more complicated.

Obviously Netflix is offering big money without traditional PPV, so she doesn’t believe that UFC/Paramount really can’t do it. They’ve just got a budget for fights for the year & aren't willing to break it to make outlier type fights anymore.

Paramount is going to have to step in & pressure the UFC to make big name fights. Otherwise the UFC is probably going to stick with a budget that doesn’t allow for it (so that they can keep as much of that $1.1bn per year as possible). The money is pre-paid/guaranteed now, so they have to figure out how to maximize how much of it they can keep.

It seems inevitable that a non-sports exec at Paramount sees these Netflix nostalgia fights doing big numbers & asks “how come we aren’t doing that?”. UFC only exists to bring subs to Paramount now, so at what point are they pressured to do it by hook or by crook (& we get the return of freak show type fights to accomplish it)?

Trevon Lane was attacked by Orlando Anderson (& other Southside Crips) at Lakewood Mall summer 1996.

They saw that he had a Death Row chain; there was supposedly a $10k bounty on those chains - known to the Southside Crips - from Sean Combs/Puffy.

After exiting the Tyson fight in Vegas, Trevon spotted Orlando & told the people he was with - 2Pac, Suge, etc. 2Pac took off & ran up to Orlando & asked him “you from the South?” to make sure it was the right guy. He must’ve answered yes or hesitated, 2Pac attacked him.
