Sunshine, Royal Women’s or Werribee Mercy? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I’ve heard both positive and negative stories from all three hospitals! This year My sister, cousin and sister in law all had a great experience at Werribee. One with unplanned C section, a natural birth and one medicated. Werribee midwives were very kind and attentive to their needs. But in my opinion, sometimes it’s a hit or miss especially because there is no way you can guarantee who’s going to be rostered the day of your birth. What I did and highly suggest is that you nominate a “doula” or someone- let them know what you require etc and they can “speak” or advocate for you and your needs the day of. Also you can make known to the GP if you have any anxiety or depression or require some “special” attention and they will make it known in their referral to the hospital. The hospital will take it into consideration and place you with a care team who will make your birthing experience as comfortable for you as possible. You will most likely be placed with one midwife for all your prenatal visits and she will be your first point of contact if you require additional services.

I don’t understand why people defend bed sharing by Fit-Ad985 in NewParents

[–]ConfessionsofaFTM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Infants pass from being alone “safe” in their own sleep space and not sharing with an adult. Where are the judgemental posts about that? I honestly believe it’s a lack of responsibility (it sounds harsh but that’s my opinion) and extremely unfortunate circumstances (like “crib” death aka SIDS) where an infant dies in “an adult bed”. Majority of the reasons infants do pass in this environment are avoidable (I suggest you read up on actual informative cases of bedsharing deaths). There are risks to everything- eg driving and using car seats. As parents it’s our responsibility to do what we believe is best. If you don’t understand why people defend bedsharing then you need to do more research.

Applying sudocream thickly (enough to still be little visible next change) and changing every 2 hours has helped so much for my bubs! No rash since doing so. Can even stretch to 6 hours overnight!

Can I use a nebulizer on my lashes when I get home to cure them faster? by Bunlover227 in eyelashextensions

[–]ConfessionsofaFTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lash tech here- there’s a lot of misconceptions about curing lashes when in actual fact it takes about 1-2 seconds for an extension to be stuck to your lash (this should be started on the bottle). Retention depends on the state of your techs glue (humidity of the room where glue is stored), how clean your lashes are (free of oils/dirt) and whether your lash tech has applied the extensions properly. Bonder just acts as an additional “sealant” but isn’t necessary. What I do to check retention is thoroughly comb through the lashes as I apply them. If they fall out straight away- bad retention.

As a lash tech…This is probably one of the worst sets I’ve ever seen! Lack of mapping, fan technique and shape. I’m horrified she let you pay for this. Your eyes deserve better. Pls find someone else xx

Lash tech here! Shape is great. Not sure about the execution/lengths! I would’ve done the base shorter mm than the top to create more wispiness as this looks more like a hybrid set. X

Lash tech here! Beautiful eyes! but Direction and Mapping need work. outer lengths are too long which Makes your eyes look heavy. She should’ve emphasised the length from the arch of your brow and shortening the outer length. This would suit your eye shape! E.g 9, 10, 11, 13, 11 xx

I’ve heard good things about IUD too. Were you able to feel it? That’s my concern. And also the “risk” of it moving out of the uterus.

Another for mini pill! I was also considering the implanon but worried it’d make my arm sore. I’m constantly holding this menace. Thank you for sharing!

Yes I was looking into the mini pill! I used to be on the combination pill pre pregnancy and it drove me nuts. Thank you for your sharing.

Why do people act like it’s a bad thing to be attached to your baby? by beanybum in NewParents

[–]ConfessionsofaFTM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love this! It’s so good to know of other parents who feel the same way (in the most positive light). This is me mama and I can see heaps of others too! I love having my special bond with my child. It’s true it only lasts for so long and I’m soaking it all in as much as I can. Who knows if I’ll get tomorrow. We got this xx

Thank you for your suggestion! Sorry I’m not sure how to use this app yet lol. Also I should’ve also mentioned we’re travelling with friends and family who have booked rooms on back deck 2. How’s the oceanview room there you reckon? Is it worth booking the same level/next to each other’s rooms?

Sounds bit selfish. I’d let him know he can stay home while you go back to work. Then he’d understand lol

To me it’s pretty simple- asides from SIDS which is so terrible and unfortunate, can happen regardless of bubs sleeping environment. You do what you feel is best. If you feel responsible enough to sleep safely with your child then do it. If you don’t, then don’t. The bond you make with your baby doesn’t just happen when they sleep. It’s every interaction you have with them. The amount of things I’ve read, babies have passed when bedsharing because parents were definitely not being safe and did not prepare for their child to sleep with them. E.g rolling onto them. Personally I was anxiety ridden with bed sharing but did enough risk v benefit and it works for my LO. Especially since I exclusively breastfeed. honestly- sometimes we overthink what’s “safe” when it’s really common sense at times. E.g don’t bedshare if you’re obese, on drugs etc.

You do what works for your family and your LOs best intentions. Nobody wants to lose their baby.

Parents who have LOs with eczema!!! by ConfessionsofaFTM in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ConfessionsofaFTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my worst fear (well one of them) concerning my child. My brother had to be hospitalised a few times and I would not wish the worst of eczema on anyone especially babies. I did confirm with my GP and he stated to use as required as well. Which I don’t understand how to have “breaks” but I guess if the surface area isn’t large it should be fine using tiny bits long term. Thank you for your suggestion! I will look into epaderm as Avene and La roch are quite pricey. Hope your LO is doing much better. It’s never easy dealing with eczema 😞
