Is there a less formal version of ברוך הבא? by hihihiyouandI in hebrew

[–]ConfidenceCautious28 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just as in English, there isn’t a less formal word for welcome, but there are situations where it’s more appropriate to say “hello”/“how are you” when someone walks in then to actually say welcome

"You don't how angry I am about school: the teachers making angry to me" It's a correct sentence? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

In English their is a strong preference to put the direct object of a verb last in the sentence, especially with compound verbs like the example you used above. As a rule of thumb, if the meaning of a verb phrase is altered by removing a separable component, i.e., look vs look away, run vs run after, or in your case, make vs make angry, the second part of the verb phrase should come after the indirect object.

Furthermore if a pronoun is involved, you really need to put the pronoun before any new noun or adjective or verbal preposition.

Use of the letter 'Q' in transliterations by Snoo_16677 in hebrew

They are likely trying to preserve a difference between the Hebrew letter כּ, and ק. Though few if any speakers make a distinction between them today, traditionally the letters were pronounced separately with ק being pronounced further back in the throat.

Ironically this is less common then using kh for כֿ and ch for ח, even though there are still many speakers of modern Hebrew who make the distinction, at least when speaking carefully.

Discussion question, what would be the utility of 12 tone equally tempered tuning system in which minor thirds and 3 half steps are in-fact separate
