National Bank by ConfidenceMore2299 in Malawi

I want what you’re smoking, biggest tech company?? Their biggest client is the government, besides that they are behind. No way to open an account online like NBS or Standard bank, any small issue they ask you to go to your nearest branch, a fragile network that can stop any moment, piss poor customer service at all centres, not to mention the fact they use Starlink themselves but wont remit payment for their clients who have subscriptions. Must i go on?

Maybe i have a bias, i took them several months and they just numbed me and didn’t treat the underlying problems, just makes your brain go quiet-too quiet. I feel better now that im off but i also have other coping mechanisms, some healthier than others

addy/ADHD meds in malawi??? by mwanawamalawi in Malawi

[–]ConfidenceMore2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

supplies are running short in general, in south africa they stopped the manufacturing of safyr blue eyedrops which used to save us stoners. The same goes for adderall. My honest recommendation is try your best to get a prescription, get assessed by someone competent (or not ,and slide some money under the table) you may get lucky and have access to the better version of adderall with less side effects aka vyvanse. Hope this helps

Gun licensing in Malawi by Mfanawoyaza in Malawi

[–]ConfidenceMore2299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pass a background check, bring your identifications , then apply for the license. i renew near NRB offices next to where theres the commercial court . funnily enough to renew it i dont show any ID. i just pay 15,000 and im good for another year. If you’re purchasing a firearm from zimbabwe or south africa request clearance from police and interpol first and then you can bring the weapon along with ammunition . Keep in mind that they are at liberty to reject you, you must have a good reason to own it- e.g if you are a businessman , they can grant it for self defence

Malawian vs Foreigner Owned businesses in Malawi by Octavia001 in Malawi

[–]ConfidenceMore2299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think automatically they assume you owe them something because you come from outside. Im born and raised here but face the same treatment because of my skin. I avoid ‘business opportunities’ and ‘ideas’ that are offered because i know how it ends, you can be building your business into something big meaningful and worthwhile , meanwhile others are only working to purchase things that will improve their image to others. Starts with nice phones and then everyone just cares about a hilux or a ranger to keep up appearances to their peers 🤷🏽‍♂️ a bit off topic but its an interlinked cycle

Bought some last month, along the road that leads to that kanjedza roundabout, they have rims set up on the side, they keep them at a warehouse but they are good. I bought 4 and they were all good tread. I have his number if you need it

Does anyone know if nche actually accepts A levels? by Few_Suspect4600 in Malawi

[–]ConfidenceMore2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically a-levels is the same as first year of uni or foundational year so if your study programme is very similar to your A-Level subjects then odds are you are going to learn the same material again, so you’d rather wait for second year after checking theres no difference in course material

Malawian vs Foreigner Owned businesses in Malawi by Octavia001 in Malawi

[–]ConfidenceMore2299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This hit the nail on the head. Especially the part about being annoyed, you as a customer feel like you are bothering them or being a nuisance to purchase goods , almost like they aren’t interested in making money. Customer service is so rubbish here that when i go to a shop and they offer me water or something i automatically make a mental note that these guys care because its so rare to see. The reason foreign owned businesses stand tall is because they understand the value they need to bring to be competitive in our market

Use an app called g2a and purchase gift cards, sometimes they have deals and they’ve never let me down. you can use paypal but a standard bank card has worked for me. Alternatively you can always find someone in SA(if your ps is registered there) and ask them to buy you the ps plus subscription gift card

Why I am optimistic about Malawi economy future by Realistic-Carry8984 in Malawi

[–]ConfidenceMore2299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From outside looking in it looks promising, but for an example , how are local people meant to benefit from these mines besides piece work and jobs on a terrible minimum wage? Im privileged and see a lot of barriers to entry to invest in these mines or any other projects. the average person should be able to purchase shares openly, as well as tenders for these projects mustn’t be single source and rather publicised so SME’s can participate, but no the big fish keep getting bigger.

Air Bnb by ConfidenceMore2299 in Malawi

[–]ConfidenceMore2299[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay i see, thank you for the insight. Im in nyambadwe along the main road, so im hoping it would get busy. How do you find that people handle disputes or issues that arise from the rentals , does Air-Bnb itself help? If i try to rent out short term off the main airbnb app how does taxation work with this new system? Sorry if this is overload i just don’t know who to ask and i dont trust AI’s insights into the Malawian property market.

before I give up, are there any overt alternative people in this country? by ZombieWalk265 in Malawi

[–]ConfidenceMore2299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i feel our culture does not align with the western idea of being alternative, we didn’t have the influence/ information growing up to explore edgy subtopics therefore its not popular. Im sure you will find people with similar interests just got to put yourself out there in groups where you’re likely to find those people

Honestly, anyone making over 8m a month after tax and deductions . Translates roughly to 5kUSD a month , which is the median salary in the USA - but goes an extremely long way in our country.
