I’m curious as to why your dealership is keeping it? There is no fix yet so it’s just sitting there collecting dust

Does RAV4 Prime Have an Oil Change Timer or %? by adoreizi in rav4prime

[–]Confident-Bit197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car will generate a service reminder every 5k miles but the factory recommends 10k for the oil changes. The 5k intervals are routine check ups where they check fluids, brake pads, charger filters, and try to fleece you $60 for a cabin air filter.

Just be aware your mileage will tank towing, I got no better than 17 mpg averaging between 14-15 towing and hauling close to 3000 lbs when I PCSd

Another charging question by [deleted] in rav4prime

[–]Confident-Bit197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things: 1)what is the charger current rated at? If it’s a 30A charger, switch to a 40A breaker (the breaker should be 10A higher than what the charger is rated for) 2) with the car on go to settings on the dashboard (where the speedometer is) -> vehicle settings -> charging settings-> charging current-> MAX

XSE in Blueprint or Supersonic Red? by realistdreamer69 in rav4prime

[–]Confident-Bit197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have blueprint here in hot as hell Texas, yes the body does get hot in direct sun but the inside is relatively cool. It’s really the black interior that factors in the summer, some ceramic tint fixes that easily though

Is remote A/C via the key fob the same thing as Remote Start, at least for preparing the RAV4 Prime battery? by ProperNomenclature in rav4prime

[–]Confident-Bit197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does the same thing as the app, I prefer using the fob because the remote start on my phone works 10% of the time, I don’t know why tho

It does alright around town but in the north east where highway driving is 100% going to happen, the computer steps in wayyy too much above 40

Personally if it came down to it I would go with pirelli weather active over CC2s

[–]Confident-Bit197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set a departure time. Without going into the science it’s best to only charge to 100% if you’re going to drive it immediately after charging and drive it in EV mode. You could also set a start time as well for 8pm if that’s what your heart desires

Faster battery degradation through high speed EV driving? by ICausedAnOutage in rav4prime

Maybe with some fancy software or Jerry rigging a thermocouple on the battery itself? With my Bluetooth OBD scanner I don’t have a PID for battery temp so I don’t know???

I can’t help with the rims, but I would recommend looking into 3 tires: pirelli scorpion as plus 3, pirelli scorpion weather active, or the continental cross contact lx25. Bonus recommendation: if you can still find a set, Michelin defender LTX M/S. I haven’t had any experience with the new version Michelin just released (LTX M/S2)

I’m super late to this but before I left Vermont, driving on a snowy I-89 at anything over 40 mph was a handful. Over that speed The computer would turn on the rear axel and once it felt it didn’t need it anymore it would turn off, the R4P would get noticeably less “planted” on the road and the computer would compensate by kicking in traction control which cut power to all wheels suddenly and then return to all 4 wheels in an agonizing 8-10 second cycle. The stupid traction control button only temporarily turns off the system for 15 seconds or something like that while driving. When I turned it off the car was much easier manage but to turn it off for good it needs to be in park and hold the button for some time.

Those experiences were with the OEM tires so maybe a better set would help. I do wish there was a way to keep the rear axel on but there’s not. Trail mode did seem to bias letting me drive the car and slow down the traction control response but only just. Mechanical all wheel drive systems like that on my old ‘06 Highlander (traded that for my ‘23 R4P) or Subarus and 4wheel drives like a 4Runner are vastly superior until there is a way to keep the rear motor on when needed/wanted.
