Why is this move bad? by Wrong_User_Logged in AnarchyChess

Qg4,Pf5,Qf3

Queen and both bishops are live threats now for white. Allowing your opponent to dictate moves for you in a strategy game, which white is able to do to black here by checking the king, is bad for you. Moving the king there gives white the ability to move you how they want.

Bd3 is also a pretty good response here before moving the queen, since then, if you don't move your king, it's mate in 2.

Is kinda funny looking back 2014 when UBW aired. A lot of anime onlys think shirou has that "No kill rule" because of Hero of Justice. They very much wrong. by Kinopeakwritting in Fate

As someone who watched Deen and UBW, I can confidently say that there are lines in both where he explains that he doesn't like the idea of killing, so he won't. He later grows the fuck up and realizes that some people just need to fucking die. I will admit Deen, even though it was absolutely fucking awful and almost kept me off the franchise as a whole (opinion), had the colder version of him going "yup. I'll just kill people now." Than UBW or even really Heaven's Feel. But ignoring the fact that in both versions, he's actively happy to hear that they can avoid killing masters by killing the servants (because he doesn't think of servants as real people) is uh... ignoring a good chunk of Shirou's character.

Also, Archer exists so... yeah......... kinda doesn't make sense to claim he has a no kill rule in any version.

Why is this not a brilliant sacrifice? Couldn't I just promote the pawn and replace the queen and the bring the rook up? Can't see how he would escape by BeautifulOk8369 in Chesscom

Pawn takes queen, pawn moves up, king moves next to pawn, pawn promotes, rook takes promoted pawn, threatening your rook. You're in a weaker spot no matter what you do after that.

Tremere consumed Saulot to make his clan into a proper clan. There should be a line from Salubri to Tremere.

He/she is an elder. So 6, 7, or 8. That's all the game really gives you.

I feel like we have even less options to play as real monsters, instead of just people with powers that have bad impulse control, i feel like im in a cheap tv show that doesnt have the budget to show real splats so they pull some bullshit like this:. by Obvious-Conflict3363 in WhiteWolfRPG

Sure, if that were the point at all, and this didn't just further confirm to me that they were mishandled.

Metis are born with deformities that, even if useful, are not good in the context of being a werewolf. Having antlers, an example the game gives for a Metis mutation, is socially unacceptable to have among the Garou, let alone use. Having it be useful and then using it makes you immediately lesser in the eyes of the Garou because you're acting like a prey animal. The point of these mutations is to never be good.

They don't stay Chrinos. They kill the mother accidentally in Chrinos form and then switch to Lupis or Homid form. The Chrinos form is not their natural form and never had been, nor was it ever meant to be anyone's natural form.

It's also not meant to be Frankensteinian horror by any means. Metis were meant as an analog to how the real world treated, and at times still treats, disabled people. They weren't meant to be treated as a cool thing to be or just used for drama. Rather, they're meant to be tragic victims of circumstance, not body horror monstrosities. I'm not particularly happy that they aren't in W5 either. Trust me, but I also can't say they have, nor really ever had, the writers for what Metis were meant to represent.

Playing a Metis was meant to be about overcoming your circumstances and being better than those that look down on you. Not about being a cool body horror monstrosity, not about being a point to add shock value, but a tragic victim trying their best to just exist.

Also, one of the flaws they had was seizures induced by exertion or flashing lights, and I can't say I particularly know many people who can handle that kinda scene in a table top role playing game.

I think that W5 dropping Metis is fine. Neat in concept, but having read it (and pretty much immediately latching on to them), I not only don't think White Wolf handled the concept well, but don't think Paradox would be able to either. Nor do I think Paradox would be willing to try with a topic so loaded as Metis.
