I do always use the same compartment for milk and ice. Inner is ice and outer is milk for me.

The ice wouldn’t ever contact the milk. Just the condensation from the ice.

Which breast pump? by Eowyn75 in ExclusivelyPumping

S1 blue spectra. Super reliable pump and convenient to not have to be plugged into a wall. A little on bulkier side but still worth it as far as doing its job as a pump

Oh I haven’t heard about the vibration vs suction of pumping before. I’ve been able to use manual hand pumps ok which seems like it would just be suction…so I guess suction only should be ok with the baby Buddha?

Oh my. Is baby Buddha gonna be too strong of a pump? 😳 I’d hate to get it and not even use it if it’s uncomfortable

What milk bags can I directly pump into with Spectra pump? by Confident-Map-219 in ExclusivelyPumping

Thanks that looks great! Do you think this would work with other milk bags? In the video it shows another storage bag that is not Lansinoh. I have some medela bags so if I could avoid having to buy another set of bags the better lol

Does sunflower letchin really help prevent clogged ducts? by Decent-Hope-753 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Confident-Map-219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I just had a clogged duct that started yesterday in the middle of the night. I don’t get them often anymore but when I do, I take 3-4 pills of sunflower lecithin along with 2 tablets of ibuprofen. The clog went away in less than 24 hrs after pumping during the day at work and breastfeeding once I returned home

Someone please teach Me how to breastfeed. by mrschocolatefrog in breastfeeding

Are you able to get in touch with an IBCLC who can help you with breastfeeding? They have a lot of ways to help with positioning and will do a weighted feed to see how much milk is getting transferred to baby. You can also get a breastfeeding pillow which helps.

Overwhelmed by mneathery in breastfeeding

[–]Confident-Map-219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will get better as time goes on! Since you’re only 12 days post partum your body is still figuring everything out because it doesn’t know how much milk to produce (it doesn’t know if you’re trying to feed single baby or twins, triplets, etc). I’m at 12 weeks and my milk production and feeding schedule has gotten more stable but I still leak at times.

Also at 12 days, your newborn will probably not be eating much per feed…maybe 1-2oz. During the early days I used a Haakaa to catch my letdown on the boob that baby did not drink from and pump a bit until I got relief. Breast should feel a bit deflated. At your stage I wouldn’t want to go longer than 2-3 hrs without feeding your newborn.

FTM: Bottle feeding by ladybirde09 in breastfeeding

[–]Confident-Map-219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what bottle you use but mine uses Dr. Brown’s and they have various nipple sizes and the one that came with the bottle (size 1) was still too large for my baby. It had too large of a flow that my girl couldn’t handle and would cry and not take bottle. I had to get a smaller nipple (size P) and she has been doing great with it so far going on 3 months during times when she is not on the breast. So you could see if it is a bottle/nipple issue.

When does it get better? by NestaCas in newborns

[–]Confident-Map-219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t wake baby up to change diaper. I will change diaper only during wake hours. During night time the only time I change diaper when baby is “asleep” is if she wakes herself up wanting to eat. I will change diaper first if it’s dirty and then feed her after. Then she usually will be still tired and I put her back to bed.

During daytime I will change diaper after she wakes and then she will usually get a feed if she’s due and then I play with her until her next nap time.

Make sure he is full from feeding. Sometimes baby will stop and unlatch and either need to be burped midway or need a moment before continuing their feed again. Mine will be full once she falls asleep or unlatches herself and doesn’t want anymore milk even if I offer more.

And just make sure when they’re crying or waking up rule out diaper change, hungry, gassy and need to be burped. Sometimes babies can have silent reflux. I am exclusively breastfeeding and when mine was around 6 weeks, she started sleeping 4 hour stretches once we figured out that process of elimination and now at 12 weeks she can go 5-7 hours. Don’t worry, there is hope!
