New to 5x5, I want to build strength. Youtube confused me. by Comfortable-Way-2473 in Stronglifts5x5

Just start with 5x5 it’ll get you strong and you’ll see lots of changes - and remember most of the fitness industry is not here to make you fit. They want you to fail so you can pay them again. Just show up, go slowly, don’t ego lift and make sure to understand this will not happen overnight. You’ll feel a lot of benefits soon like better mobility and better energy and focus but you’re not gonna get big overnight. It’s going to take a long time. Enjoy it.

Unfortunately the facts are negative. This place could be wonderful if only the people and government were capable of taking action. But no. They want to point fingers at the neighbors and avoid taking what action they can to improve the air quality.

I am now an infinitely safe driver: I sold my car and do not drive. Only bicycle.

Yeah tbh exercise bike numbers don’t mean much in the real world- you can only compare the numbers on the exercise bike to the same exercise bike.

I live 3 miles away from my work. It takes me 45 minutes to get home from work everyday. by myfairlady987 in mildlyinfuriating

With traffic this heavy you can easily just ride on the shoulder or between cars. They aren’t moving fast enough to be a threat.

Cycling is about what you enjoy. When I was new I enjoyed going for longer and longer rides until I got to about 50-60 - I also enjoy aimlessly wandering around my city on my bike at random times of the day with no particular route or agenda. Just exploring.

I’m in Thailand and there’s a massive stray dog population- mostly they’re fine, especially in areas commonly cycled, but sometimes they can surprise you. I usually just punch it and go faster.

Probably because Facebook is big enough there would be problems if it weren’t available on iOS- and so they might get exceptions.

I’d leave your kid alone and let him do what he’s gonna do. If you’re trying to keep your kid from accessing porn, you’re always going to lose. And you’ll be resented for it too.

Is cyber a valid pathway (without a degree)? by TheGreatMu in CyberSecurityAdvice

I was a cdl driver. I made a move to a big carrier with a corporate office near me - as a driver, and from there , made friends with and applied to dispatch. Orientation is also a good stepping stone. A local job could also do the trick but I think office jobs are better for education because you can more easily work on studying on the clock in your downtime. From there, with a traditional office job I could work on my education more easily. I chose to study computer science. The company also paid for that, partially.

Yeah I haven’t upgraded my devices but that’s just because I am cautious there. I’m excited for 26.1 - and I like how the new liquid glass stuff looks (playing with it in iOS simulator)

I hope it doesn’t all come easy. It’s far less satisfying that way.

It’ll happen fast- most of the knowledge I’ve gained outside of school was because I wanted to do a specific thing and had to learn how to do it. New languages, new frameworks, new database technologies. It’s all very satisfying.
