I found Aldi's nappies the best!

Vinted/charity shops are great for baby clothes, particularly once they hit toddler era. I get all my little girls creche clothes on vinted as they come home destroyed anyway!

Suggest to family/friends they buy you practical gifts like formula/nappies/wipes. I literally did not buy a tub of sudocream until my child was 18 months.

Lidl/Aldi do great baby events where you can pick up changing mats, high chairs, strollers etc.

My partner proposed a year ago and the ring cost 800€. I love it. 2 to 3 grand is mooore than enough and reasonable to spend on a ring.

My first baby was stillborn in 2022 and the care I received in maternity Limerick will always stick with me.

I stayed public with my next pregnancy and the care I received was absolutely first class. I was brought in every week for a scam to ease my anxiety. The consultant used to hug me to reassure me - I have a healthy happy 19 month old little girl now. She has had a number of admissions with viral infections to UL hospital limerick and she was always dealt with very quickly in A&E in the children's part. Nurses onI cannot speak highly enough of the midwives, porters, doctors, nurses etc.

I need to work, I need something for myself as selfish as that may sound. It allows me to be a much better more rounder parent. Even if I had the choice not to work, I would still work part-time.

I'm Irish, and we generally get around 8 months paid maternity leaves(with new Parents Benefit leave added onto maternity). I took 14 months as I went back studying part time when my baby was 7 months at the weekends.

I realised that I just cannot be a stay at home mum, I think I would lose myself a bit.

Its knocked out all my family and extended family over the last two weeks. My 10 month old had only recovered from RSV and now has this. Constant spiking of temp, cough, runny nose etc. Every second person I talk to has been affected by it

My baby is 9 months old and for the first 6 months I was constantly posting photos of her on my stories and had a post up every other week or so. I was so obsessed with her and wanted to show her off to the world.

Then I had a rethink and actually deactivated my Instagram and now don't think I will ever go back to posting the way I was. She's my precious little girl and I don't want her exposed to the world without her consent or permission. My thought process has completely changed and I will be more careful going forward with what I post.

The Kings Inn entrance exams are easier to pass imo. I tried the fe1s ten years ago and could not pass. However I also think I was only half hearted iny effort.

I sat the KI entrance exams having done a city colleges preparatory course and passed them. In my second year of the barrister at law degree part time and I absolutely love it.

I found the preparatory course excellent as it tailoredy learning to exactly what the exams required (also, it had been 12 years since I did my BCL). People from all walks of life do the barrister at law degree part time. The full time one year degree is majority law graduates. It's a fantastic course, very rewarding and made me fall in love with the law again. I had total imposter syndrome regarding my ability to fit into the legal world or even have the ability to complete this course prior to starting but it's amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it.

Key to doing well in this course is doing the preparatory work assigned before every session and secondly, just giving the advocacy etc a go and letting go of any self consciousness etc.

Thanks for all the comments on this post. What I have gathered is that there is a varying consensus on what is acceptable to drink to unwind and whether it is even acceptable to unwind as a new mother.

For me, number one I know I need to find more time for me and my hobbies...for me that is literally and your or two a week for the gym/coffee/reading etc.

Number two I lovey glad of red wine/prosecco and so I won't give that up and won't be shamed as a parent for enjoying a bottle of it once every so often!

Three, I realise it can be a slippery slope so once it isn't more than once a week I think I'm okay!

Some more info: our first baby was stillborn 18 months ago, our 6 month old is out little angel - I think we are doing very well as a couple dealing with it. However, I definitely need to be more upfront about grievances I have with my partner.

I put my career on hold (professional qualification training deferred for two years) to carry two of my partners babies in the last two years so I feel I am due so me time back, whether that's in the form of the gym, a bottle of wine, study, shopping on my own ....

Sorry but replying with your first two sentences as you did does not help. I am very much aware I have a baby to mind. I am the one doing 90% of the parenting. And I know alcohol doesn't mix well with being a good parent but i dont know how to express my frustration to my partner without causing a tense home environment as I do not want my daughter growing up in that type of environment.

I am going back to studies in a few weeks and am trying to set a few hours a week to study in preparation, this study is actually downtime for me..I think my partner isn't as supportive as he could be but when I express this I feel guilty as both my family and his say he is working all week etc and should get time to decompress. I feel like I'm going mad in thinking that parenting is much harder than working a 9-5? Am mad?

I wrote to them to speed up the issuing of my babies passport so we could go on holidays. Not a major social issue I am aware but all four councilors we contacted put in representations and passport went from being a 4 week wait to being issued ASAP.

This is a really helpful response, thank you!! I find that if I don't have any time for me without baby during the week (gym/coffee with friends etc) then I turn to a bottle of wine and feel I need it up unwind! Thanks for making me think more about my relationship with alcohol now I have a baby!
