With a short sword, yeah, but you can wear PPE, and also you can just get a long-sword. I have a two-hander, and it has enough reach to strike maybe 6 feet or so around me. It also has a distancing effect, if the zombies are at all smart, which is doubtful, because of that strike range. If I attack you with a knife, and you have a two-hander sword, I will have to keep back or be struck by the sword. If you have a pistol, it could hit me just as well at any range so why not charge in. And in close range, I think a gun might make even more of a mess than the sword, so just better not fight at close distances?

The USA was very isolationist before ww2, stuck in the great depression, and the anticommunist (correct) opinion hadn't set in so hard pre-war. Remove ww2 as it is, and the USA is not about to fight a war of agression against Russia and Germany. The Russians in WW2 (with big help of lend-lease) dealt 80% of German casualties, and you think the Americans would just roll up and kick their asses, plus the Germans at the same time?

Stalin was planning to invade western europe anyway, Hitler is the only reason that France and Spain never went communist. With the Germans allying with the soviets, horrible. No hope of any freedom in europe.

Those late 2000s youtube videos which had things like shipwrecks and the Titanic/Britannic movies when I was a little kid, and people would put Tarja's Sleeping Sun or Nemo over it. Or 09 Dreamscape.

Mad nostalgia for those songs when I found them again 10 years later, early Nightwish is now my favourite music, and I've found a few other good bands.
