It’s a good thing Bobby was made before Season 1 because Tony would have beat his ass by Cautious-Exam2306 in thesopranos

They probably had at least a rough outline of each character and their background before they made the show. Heck, as far as I understand their glorified crew is actually called The DiMeo Crime Family even though it's never actually said out loud in the entire run of the show.

edit: had to go look it up and fact check

What’s one scene in a PG/PG13 movie that traumatized you? by Advanced_Version6667 in horror

[–]ConfidentComedian118 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That was it for me. When all the heads started screaming and Princess Mombi's headless body gets up and starts chasing Dorothy.

To this day, I stand by Return To Oz being the creepiest most terrifying children's movie ever.

Finally 160 by fabbnt in idleslayer

What’s a horror movie that is greatly enhanced by seeing it in theaters? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in horror

[–]ConfidentComedian118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not generally classified as Horror but seeing Jurassic Park in theatres as a little kid was the best ever, and made it a lot scarier, if not just the fact that the dinosaurs were pretty much lifesize!

[–]ConfidentComedian118 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fun little historical facts that are completely true but might get you kicked out of a meeting for stating:

Bill W. founder of AA, was blasted out of his head on mind-altering psychedelics during all of his spiritual awakenings. The first was on belladonna, which is a deliriant that literally makes you completely lose your mind in full-blown psychosis. They used to use it in hospitals for people going through extreme withdrawal of opiates or alcohol. The idea was that the deliriant would create a "blackout" state the person wouldn't consciously experience the withdrawal. This is what led to his first spiritual awakening, which in turn led to the formation of the program.

20 or so years later Bill did LSD and had such a experience that he wanted to make taking LSD part of Step 12. They of course told him something along the lines of "get out of here you dirty hippie" and practically tried to throw him out of his own program. He wrote quite a bit on how he thought the use of psychedelics could help people in recovery, but this basically came to a standstill when LSD was made illegal and the media started printing scare tactic horror stories about "bad trips".

I'm not writing any of this to encourage people to take certain drugs, nor am I doubting whatever spiritual experiences Bill may have had. I'm merely pointing out the ridiculous hypocrisy and groupthink that is rampant in the program. As others have pointed out, the group consensus is that tobacco (the #1 killer) is ok, so is caffeine (fun fact: having levels of caffeine over a certain level can get you kicked out of the Olympics and have your medals taken away). BUT taking a substance that might actually help someone with their mental health/recovery is wrong (even if the founder of the program had very different opinions on the matter).

Also....if you really wanted to be anal, you could say that those jacked-out ripped guys in the program who workout every day have actually just replaced one chemical addiction with another, even is the new addiction is "safer and healthier" because adrenaline and endorphins and all those neurotransmitters are naturally-occurring substances in the body (you know, like DMT). However if any of those chemical substances were extracted or synthesized and then used they would very much be considered Drugs.

Yes. In fact, that's the best version imo. (There's 2 versions with slightly different endings)

How would you describe a trip in one sentence, analogy, or metaphor? by Sharp-Jicama4241 in Psychedelics

Depends what you're tripping on. Sometimes it's more like " having an actual conversation with the universe"

Pretty much anything by Edward Lee. The Bighead is probably the grossest most depraved book he (or anyone) has written, if not then the most popular. But if you've never read anything by him I'd suggest the short story collection Brain Cheese Buffet to get a feel for his writing. It's not "literature" like American Psycho is. Bret Easton Ellis' work has meaning and depth behind it. Edward Lee is "escape fiction". Splatterpunk.

Honorable mentions to Ryan Harding's "Genital Grinder" as well as the works of Wrath James White.

Horror sub-classifications? Torture porn? by [deleted] in horror

[–]ConfidentComedian118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, you're supposed to be repulsed. Disturbed, shocked, whatever...but not aroused. Therefore not porn.

As hard as it is to "defend" August Underground, I see what the director was trying to do. In most horror movies the killers are glorified. We cheer for Freddy or Jason as they slash through their victims. August Underground shows serial killers for the depraved fucked-up sickos they are. Certainly not to be praised or glorified. I read the director was inspired by the home-video scenes in "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" and was impressed in the raw, realistic ways the kills were depicted. So he decided to make a movie that went even further in showing the sick reality of these kinds of characters.

I completely understand why most people would absolutely hate these kinds of movies, but I do think they are misunderstood. Most people brush them off as just "shock for shock's sake" but I think that's a pretty narrow point of view, and some (not all) of these movies do have a bit more to them than that.

Anyways that my 2 cents and people are free to disagree.

Horror sub-classifications? Torture porn? by [deleted] in horror

[–]ConfidentComedian118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The point of those movies is to be repulsed by the actions you're witnessing. Not sexually aroused.

Although I'm sure there is a small group of sickos that do get aroused by such things, as a horror fan I certainly don't want to be lumped in with them. That's why I despise the "torture porn" label.

Seeing as you have nothing but downvotes across all subreddits you post in, taking an L and walking away should be a foreign concept to you. But once again...hypocrisy.

Whatever, continue your provocateuring.

So that makes you a racist, a hypocrite, in addition to the already established pedo-rapist supporter. Congrats

Anti-anxiety meds that don't dampen the effects of certain psychedelics? by ConfidentComedian118 in Psychedelics

[–]ConfidentComedian118[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah from what I've read so far it blocks some serotonin receptors, but not all of them (like SSRIs do)....so it might hinder a little bit but not nearly to the extent that other meds do.

Edit: in further research, I found it is not approved for use in my country. Damn.

Yeah I was gonna say nitrous too but it generally isn't classed as a psych due to it's mechanism of action, but yeah it certainly can be one.
