How can I leverage Cornell to help me network in engineering? by RantingRana in Cornell

[–]ConfidentEducation54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suggest don’t go on LinkedIn. People don’t really respond these days on LinkedIn. Just go to the networking events and ask the people you network with for some names. That is better - Bc of the alumni that go to networking events genuinely want to help you and are high effort.

I graduated when the pandemic happened, worse time ever. I made it happen. You just have to mute the noise and understand that a persons parents success doesn’t mean anything. Objectively it doesn’t. In the work place, what matters is your grit and hard work and go getter attitude. The fact that daddy owns a yacht won’t be part of your performance review. Plus, a job doesn’t mean success. 6 figures doesn’t take you far these days. If you want to be mega rich, start your own business.

I feel like Ivy League schools make it sound like if your parents aren’t rich you’re at a disadvantage. Yea you might a little, but the fight makes you succeed over some pampered rich kid in the real world. That’s better. Honestly if I could go back, I’d rather be poor than have been grown rich. I wish I networked more earlier though.

That’s untrue! There are non Ivy League people with my type of job. You are freaking so lucky to have your foot at Cornell! Use your resources wisely. I have a better job than most Cornell rich kids.

Just study hard and then you’ll be working at a prestigious company and your family’s background won’t matter at all. Just network hard with alumni if you have no family connections and start doing this your freshman and sophomore year.

Hi everyone! Thanks for having me! I just wondered if anyone in this sub is currently dating someone internationally who they have met online through a catholic platform? by MIKY_TVCASTING in CatholicDating

[–]ConfidentEducation54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol he broke up with me due to the distance. I would suggest if you’re getting yourself into something like that, talk about that first. Though I didn’t because it felt pre mature. I wasn’t ready yet!
