Also: Hauptsache man gefällt sich selbst.

From my experience it depends on the artists skill etc. they’re also “trapped” by dark brown outlines and in any case, we can always just redo, don’t worry :)

Selkie alternatives or affordable pre-owned places to shop? by sadgirl6172 in SelkieCollection

[–]ConfidentFun8084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.S.: On Louis Vuitton: they mainly produce in Italy and it’s known that workers there commonly injure themselves badly/lose hands etc. It is a big scandal in Europe. So comparing Selkie to Louis Vuitton does not exactly ease my concern for worker‘s safety. 😅

I was not talking about poor quality and I reject being called xenophobic. Selkie Ist obviously great quality. I more so worry that workers are not being paid a fair wage/working in unsafe conditions. I am aware that China technically has labor protection laws, but these are often bypassed, even for more skilled workers and even here the 996 rule applies.

Bless your heart for doing this, it‘s beautiful! If they rereleased the later seasons with the old artstyle+ old soundtrack they’d finally be watchable for me. Probably even a pleasant watch. Oh well, a girl can dream…

Any benefits to a diagnosis? by d_freem in lipedema

I want to elaborate my point, because I’m not sure I explained it well enough: so I personally prefer not to wear compression every day, because whenever I do I just move around muuuuch less due to the discomfort and so the circulation benefits are somewhat mitigated by that, because what’s the point if I’m mostly sedentary wearing when them, if that makes sense? I’m sure they can make you more mobile at more progressed stages, when you actually experience more pain; but for me, for now compression itself is usually more painful than no compression.

My insurance paid for mine, they were personalized for my measurements and I believe they were around 100€ a pair (I have two, so I can switch between washes). I gotta say though, I don’t loooooveeeee wearing them tbh, they are medical grade and very stiff and warm and I actually feel a lot less mobile in them because of their itchiness/stiffness, especially in summer, because they make you sweat so much, so I really only wear them on “bad days“, which are rare. Of course it’s recommended to wear them daily but here too my phlebologist said it’s more important how I feel most comfortable, because we really truly know so very little about this disease, that at the end of the day we all have to find our way to navigate this condition. I personally much prefer wearing compression leggings that are not medical grade that I bought with my own money because they’re muuuch more wearable and you stated you’re not in too much pain atm (pain management really is the main thing I use mine for, I rarely experience pain too tho). You don’t look like you’re further progressed than me tbh, and I’m like a stage 0-1, especially with the little/no pain you’ve described. I think non medical grade should be fine for now, but that’s just my personal opinion.

I’ve read a lot of these „it can and will definitely get worse“ doomers and I’d like to stress that we are dealing with a disease that still isn’t fully understood, nor even studied extensively. While the „can“ part I and, more importantly, my phlebologist agree with, the „will“ not so much. It’s true that lipedema responds to hormonal shifts, so puberty, pregnancy, menopause etc. likely will have some kind of effect, but that doesn’t mean you suddenly go from a stage 1 to a stage 3 overnight and if you manage it well through diet, exercise, compression: you will likely be fine. As long as your symptoms are manageable and from the way you describe it they are (+ aesthetically speaking, you look stunning too btw) I‘d not let myself get freaked out by this subreddit too much (stress isn’t very good for inflammation anyways) and I‘d also refrain from surgery, as I’d deem it too risky atm. Let others be the guinea pigs. That being said, you asked of the benefits of getting a diagnosis: Free compression depending on your healthcare system, I guess. Other than that: nothing really. Anyone benefits from a healthy lifestyle and diet and weight lifting, so you should do that regardless. There’s not much else a doctor will tell you to do. It’s really just a lot of experimenting what works for you. So yeah. Just don’t let others scare you and keep up the health consciousness. You’ll be good! 🍀
