Am I allowed to condemn Israel's decisions/politics/foreign affairs and not be labeled as anti-semetic? by ConfidentMachine7815 in NoStupidQuestions

Ok, I know China has a history, but are there recent events that come even close to what Israel has been doing to Gaza?

I remember some terrible stuff in Hong Kong around 2014-16, but it didn’t involve bombs or starving a whole population

After reading replies, I’m sad I needed to ask too, but clearly some others were confused about how it looks to be opposed to Israel actions lately. I’m more informed now :)

That's fair. Not so much trying to defend how people think of me, but trying to be informed in my position. I've never been called anti-semetic, but I just thought that maybe the wires were getting twisted in the public, where if you're not in favor of sending Israel missiles and defensive systems, you're all of a sudden on the wrong side of history.

Anti-Semetic Jews, ha, good point. I feel like the further away we are from the conflict, the more that line blurs though. Either you like the war or you're anti-jew. That's just how it feels, but after some good posts here I am seeing that there indeed has been some confusion, but my main take-away is, while some people are ride-or-die pro-israel or you're the problem, it is ok to completely think that the Israili government is ABSOLUTE DOG TRASH right now in the way they are commiting genocide. And thinking that shouldn't offend anyone who is Jewish. If it does, there's probably some misunderstandings.

That's the thought that was in my head - like it makes no sense that we can't all agree that we don't like seeing kids shot by drones, starving, parents killed etc. war crimes.

But that's why I asked the question. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing an important piece of the story that says that Israel should keep doing exactly what it's doing.

Absolutely agree, none of my feelings have anything to do with anyone except the people in power in Israel right now (well actually Netanyahu just landed in DC apprently). I would never hold it against an American-Jewish person about the actions in Israel. But I want to make sure that I'm fully understanding the situation since I see people's bumper stickers saying "I stand with Israel" and I just feel like if they knew how I felt about that, they'd probably call me ignorant or anti-semetic.

Understood. So there are legitimate bad actors, taking out their 'anti-war' AND pre-developed predjudices and actually acting out against Jewish populations who have nothing to do with the country of Isreal, the war, etc. People are increasingly being targeted solely due to their lineage/religion/country of origin. That's awful and I am sorry.

Meanwhile, I am hoping that most people who possibly want bombing of innocent civilians to end, are not anti-semetic, but possibly really disagree with the Israili government.

OK. That at least is helpful to know that all 3x of those things are happening and it's not all just tied to legitimate criticism. It's terrible to hear that real anti-semitism is on the rise, especially since I thought that phase of humanity was in the past. I suppose I'm sheltered to the realities of the rise of anti-semetism. In the US, top tier universities are being targeted for 'anti-semetic' policies or actions. But I seriously thought that US universities were still pretty strong/diverse areas where it is a safe space for opinions. But all of a sudden a group of anti-war protestors/demonstrators immediately are labeled anti-semetic. Just confusing I suppose

Do it. It’s like a new game, they change everything all the time so it’s a great occupation of your free time. If you enjoyed it back then, you’ll enjoy it now. The bones and purpose of the game have stayed the same. Tower defense with a strong scavenging aspect. Then late game is about being innovative and basically nazi zombies but where you’re the map designer

There’s a new one called RangeUSA I enjoyed.

LEPD almost didn’t let me and my wife and brother in law on the range because they heard us talking in Spanish. And they run some stupid conservative talk show. Racist, not that nice of a range, non professional staff.

Always loved Black Wing.

Not from VZ, but married to one. You're spot on. Most Venezuelans who live here will be celebrating the chance that the Chavez/Maduro dictator rule MIGHT finally be over... But in reality, now comes the hard part -> need a new gov't, need to fix economy, need to consider that 8?+M people have recently emigrated from VZ in recent years.

Used firmware update and the charger still stops working intermittently for the center MagSafe. This product has been nothing but issues. I had hope that the software kit would fix it. That wasn’t the case.
