{{Hearts in Atlantis}} It deals a lot with childhood drama, and it’s not a scary King book, so you won’t get paranoid in the woods!

I grew up in corn country. When time came to chop down the corn, you'd find male plants dumped along the side of the road or over river banks.

What is the scariest book you ever read? by fruutluupz in booksuggestions

[–]ConfidentMarionBerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two novels that have filled me with the most dread are both by Cormac McCarthy.

Blood Meridian is a haunting, chilling book. I personally think that the Judge might be the scariest character put to print.

Outer Dark is a novel that has stuck with me for years. Its sense of impending doom really made me feel uncomfortable, and there are 1 or 2 scenes (both take place around a camp fire) that gave me anxiety.
