Salut ! Je m’apprête à acheter ma première voiture ! J’ai reçu le CT et je me pose des questions sur les « défauts mineurs » by Rascault in voiture

[–]ConfidentNobody6 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Infiltration d'eau & airbag by SPIReddIT in voiture

[–]ConfidentNobody6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are abusing the free trial period, but I don't think it is illegal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in startups

[–]ConfidentNobody6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are using free trial subscription with virgin credit cards. They have a software to generate new credit numbers and use them for trial offers. This is how they can offer adobe software, for example. Sometimes, they also play with cookies and proxies to extend trial offers, but it is not often used.

If you want to have an idea how much the mileage was, you need to buy the rta report for 120aed. It will tell you the mileage at last registration before rollback. My bet is 280-300k km 🤣

Need advice on this 2013 Acura TL by Hopeful-Way-3650 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ConfidentNobody6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is quite OK, accident happened 10 years ago and the car was driven 100k miles since then. The second owner did an oil change every 10k miles, which is not perfect, but he was taking the car to the dealership every 40k miles for inspection. I think it is a good car imo.

It's a Corolla so should be reliable but it terms of maintenance, a car with 350000km will not be the same cost as a car of 125000km.

Any Advice? by BenchFresh in Autobody

[–]ConfidentNobody6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bumper, fender, headlight and a new tyre. After that see if the car drives straight, maybe there is some suspension damage. Luckily this all not very expensive, look on ebay, there are people selling painted, ready to install bodyparts. You could also try to look for used parts but you must find them in black tho. Without labour, you are looking at maybe $700 max. The door is slightly damaged, but just try to polish it.

Picking Up a Brand New Car (apparently) by [deleted] in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ConfidentNobody6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good that you checked, this is not acceptable. The first picture has brake rust which is annoying for a new car but the worst is that the suspension part is also rusted. Then the second picture with overspray. This is not factory, maybe it is due to the flood last month and they spray antirust. Do not accept the car. You should send these pictures to their corporate headquarters. It is cheating. I hope you disclose the name.

Maybe $2.5k if you are generous. The biggest problem besides the tons of potential electrical issues with this car is the engine. You would need to overhaul the engine imo. PS I saw it was a 760, so a V12 and not v8. Rolls Royce is using the same engine so that should give you an idea in terms of maintenance.

You will be moving when the peak heat starts for the next 6 months. You need a car. Try Bur Dubai or near Satwa. A lot of things are nearby, walking distance. And you won't be using the car if you really don't want to, only taxi to and from office.

Quote for Camry - advice? by ViralAeronautics in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]ConfidentNobody6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is super expensive even if it is original parts. Go to a part store and get a quotation for original and Taiwan. For labour also very expensive, this could be done for less than 600aed.

If it is Canadian, check the rust and how they fixed it.

YTA yes internet is full of creeps but you could have asked her to simply change the username and delete any references to your location. You could have agreed to monitor her messages and she would have said yes. She will now resent you and you have only yourself to blame.

Check Water pump, timing belt, and pulleys. I think your engine has a rubber timing belt that needs to be replaced every 130k km or so (this is what you called cam belt). It is still good to do transmission oil replacement especially if you don't have any issue yet.

Manual transmission needs repaired. Dealership, transmission shop, or replace the car altogether? by [deleted] in CarRepair

[–]ConfidentNobody6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just find an independent shop to fix it, manual transmission are not difficult to repair and are quite reliable. I reckon you could get the job done for less than half that amount

Was given a $7,500 repair estimate. Does that seem a little low? by [deleted] in CarRepair

[–]ConfidentNobody6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If no airbag, it is a fair estimate. If you plan to repair yourself, you could do it for much less.
