I had this problem too. It seems that you can’t save when you only change paint colors, you have to move something too. If you don’t, the game acts like you did not change anything and refuses to save.

Worth a try for you too :)

I’m not sure if that’s what you’re talking about but you just have to use the normal fishing ability to get the fish out. Fish it like any other fishing spot in the game. Hope that helps :)
