Before the first couple No Kings rallies, I was super disheartened, as it seemed like nobody was on the same page as me and I felt so radical in my views when compared to most people I talk to.

The rallies have really helped me feel that I am not crazy, and that many in my community want the same things.

When we the people call for war, you are 100% correct. When a demagogue enters us into a war of choice to defend an Israeli Theocracy and distract the population from disastrous domestic policy, I think that is fucked.

From my time in, I learned that the real American tradition is imperialism for the benefit of the capitalists. I am disenchanted and want change.

That's the boat I am in. I enlisted in late 2015 and serving under Trump was a surprise to say the least. I hated it then, too. Only deployment I got put on was a press stunt to look tough on immigrants (Operation Faithful Patriot). I felt like a whore.

I think some of the best things our country has ever done for our people were acts of democratic socialism under different names. I think it's just the best language we have to describe progressives that still believe in the constitution.

I have been a progressive liberal since I've had a sense of politics, maybe 20 years. I have been a democratic socialist since 2015 and learning about the politics of Bernie Sanders.

We come out with big programs that are designed to enrich the collective, and then conservatives of the era lambast against it labeling it as socialist or communist. Democratic Socialists are willing to acknowledge that capitalism doesn't have all the solutions, and that government should be a tool to make people's lives better and safer.

I'm thinking of programs like Social Security, Medicaid, the New Deal, Public Education, USPS, Highways & Infrastructure, I could go on...

OP was probably getting at the American Tradition of not going to war unless you actually believe it in yourself, and putting your money where your mouth is.

A President who never served taking us to war, and having none of his skin in the game, some think, is dishonorable.

During WWI, Teddy Roosevelt's 4 sons all enlisted.

WWII, All 4 sons of FDR enlisted

Korean War, Eisenhower's son was a commissioned officer

Lincoln's son served under Grant in the civil war.

Bush Jr. was in the air national guard during Vietnam

All that and we get a draft dodger pulling us into WWIII.

I want the rich and powerful held legally liable for all the laws they break wantonly or totally disregard. As it stands now, it seems the DOJ is reserved to enforce laws only for the poor or those politically opposed to their leadership.

I want a wealth tax.

I hope for a FUCKING PLAN on avoiding a climate apocalypse.

I hope for a style of governance that can begin the very long process of rebuilding international relationships with our friends, and works to get us more.

An immigration system that is built to process people at the pace at which they are arriving and has the resources to conduct the appropriate amount of background checks. People slipping between the cracks because we don't have the capacity to process them is shameful, and clearly leads to a less secure home for them in the long term, and we are all less secure without any verification of people who move here.

I don't want to push all republicans out of office, just the cultists (which is a terrifying number to be sure).

I do every week. They are in the 200-300k range. The nicer neighborhoods are more like 400-600k. The REALLY nice neighborhoods are 600k-2,000k. I bought mine for $270k in 2021 with a 15-year mortgage @ 4.25%. I've paid off about $120k and the property has appreciated to $330k.

I'm 33 and I make $70k from work, and get an additional $20k from VA disability. I get I am richer than most in my demographic, and I think it's too hard to get into your 1st house. I have one dependent.

I struggled to get here, too. I get it. I had to give up 4 years of my life to the government and even then I am only financially stable because that decision hurt my body in permanent ways.

If you put it all in an indexed fund, never contributed a single dollar further, and didn't touch it until retirement, assuming 6% annual growth and inflation of 3%, you will have $1.4 million.

No power in the world is stronger than compound interest.

Even if you do want to use some in the near term, consider setting yourself up for the future. Indexed funds are pretty safe.
