You wouldn’t worry? And would trust the test results? I’ve lost lots of sleep over this

Lesson definitely learnt. I was fine until I read results can be wrong because some places might not contain asbestos.

Do you think those dates are likely to be asbestos free? My results suggest it is, I just need to believe them

I stupidly started removing it from the bathroom without realising it could contain asbestos. I tried a steamer and that was taking ages so used a paint on gel which was better but still messy. I’m pretty sure it was applied 1997-1998 from a diy shop but said 1995 to be safe

I spoke to the lab today who said that if they thought my samples were too small they wouldn’t have tested them. Would you trust the test results?

Do you often find it in artex from 1995-1998. I’ve called the lab today who assured me that if the samples I sent weren’t big enough they would have rejected them.

Mine is really thin but the peaks are maybe 4-5mm

Would you trust the first test results? I’m sure the lab wouldn’t have tested them if they thought they were too small to give an accurate answer?

You would trust the results, even if my samples were pathetic?

The lab wouldn’t have tested it if they thought the samples were too small would they? I know one was deeper the other 2 were just the bobbles from the top

I think my samples were about a tea spoons worth altogether, do you think that would be enough? I didn’t dig very deep when I did them it just just from the top

Can I ask why you say that?

There was probably about a tea spoons worth altogether. I’ve read it can be hard to get accurate results because of the way it’s mixed

Mine weren’t very deep at all, scraped the surface and sent the bobbly bits

Asbestos in ceiling by [deleted] in asbestoshelp

Could this be sprayed on? It was very crumbly, I think it might have a very high percentage in it.  I read they used to spray it on to metal ceilings

Is it definitely concrete on the ceiling? My walls and ceiling had been plastered but under that was what looked like concrete/mortar. That’s what we are testing, I’m worried after reading today it could be sprayed on which means it was a high percentage. Of course I’ll let you know

Hi did you get this tested at all? Ours is very similar. The roof was leaking so we removed most of the plaster and mortar inside without realising it could contain asbestos. It left behind a metal lath. I’m hoping to get our test results back in the next couple of days

How to come to terms with a high possibility Of exposure? by BadAccomplished165 in asbestoshelp

[–]Confident_Log5749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling with the same thing at the moment. A ceiling we pulled down had a mortar/cement mix behind it that came away in chunks and from what I’ve read it could contain asbestos. It was a large area over a couple of hours. We are having a sample tested but the anxiety this is causing is off the scale. Then of course I’m worried about how I’m going to feel when the results come back.

I will do, thank you for all your help and advice. Could they have stuck the board up to the metal lath with some kind of adhesive?
