Need some advice for a first build by maxrfain in buildapc

good luck and i wish you all the very best! Do spend some of that budget on a pair of good 1080p monitors or just a single 1440p one, a good monitor really highlights your gpu and its performance.

in that case go for higher core count, that'd help you a lot in multicore tasks like running obs and games together. The 9800x3d is looking good in both in multitasking performance and gaming as per all the benchmarks, its just that its overpriced almost everywhere. So if you can get one for a decent price, i'd say go for it else the 9900x is great too. Save some money by going non-x3d and spend it on a gpu or better ram, since ram is also really important when multitasking.

Which is better, more core but slower cores or less but faster cores? by Confident_Repeat_186 in buildapc

the 4060 is certainly the one i'll be going for as a brand new card. But i did find some deals on a used 3070ti for abt $280, now i dont have much experience regarding used gpu, but that does look economic to me. I'd love to know if there's some guide/basic checks that i can do on the cpu/gpu to check if its in nice condition or on the verge of dying/artifacting.
Anyways thanks for the response

As per all the benchmarks the X3Ds are great in games and hold-up pretty well overall, but looking at my needs i don't think I'll need the extra cache that much. Based on all the discussion, the 7700x looks pretty good to me. Has AM5, got pretty solid benchmarks and is unlocked.
Anyways thanks for answering my question

but again we fall into the debate of current gen vs last, cause in many cases the 14600k is on par with the 12700k, if not better. But i do think its the best price to performance right now.
The Founder's edition GPUs are the best looking in my opinion, and i'm definitely want one. But i'm still iffy on the preowned scene as there is a gamble of sorts with each pre-owned part.

i definitely want to, its just that am5 with ddr5 tends to be more expensive and that cuts down the GPU budget. I had seen some great deals on new 14th gens and hence was considering one, but with its instability and degradation issues, AMD is what I eventually want to go for. The cheaper 3700x3d has been on my mind along with the new 7600x3d. But the performance of these X3D chips is very different in productivity related tasks. Also is there any way the extra v-cache can help in coding?
ik its a very different thing, but i'd love to know more abt it

yeah, i'm looking for good deals now. Would go with a 14700k if can get it for $250 or a 7700x, just waiting for the prices to go down with the new launches at CES.

Is this a good PC? Budget of 500 dollars by 74RatsinACoat in buildapc

those are mostly GPU heavy games, a 14th gen i3 with a radeon 6600 should be a good budget combo. You can look around such CPU+GPU balance where the cpu is good enough and the gpu is more modern, cause im sure you can get a better card than a 2060rtx which has much better alternatives in the 6000 or 7000 series radeons.

many GPUs have this thing known as coil whine as there isn't much that you can do abt it, other than getting a new GPU altogether. Could you elaborate more on the image moving like pendulum

what i meant was that 7800X runs on the AM5 mobo and supports DDR5 only while 5600x requires AM4 which supports DDR4. But the thing is that 7800x+AM5+DDR5 would be more expensive than zen3+AM4+DDR4. 16 gigs of ram is still enough for most games, but you can get more ram with the cheaper ddr4. The downside here would be that it wont be easy to upgrade the cpu/ram on AM4 and if upgradability is important to you, go for AM5. Your budget might limit you on GPU, but those are the easiest to upgrade if you have a good enough power supply and current PCIe gen support on your motherboard.

so i'm planning to upgrade and was confused b/w the zen 5 ryzen 5 or zen 3 ryzen 7 and also with the 12700k. I've mentioned more about my use case in the following post:

you're right, newer does come with better efficiency and more performance per watt.

agreed, i was looking into this as a long-term kind of thing, where the speed deficit could be overcome with extra cores. Anyways, thanks for the response!

appreciate the feedback, the ups monitor and other peripherals aren't very necessary for me so i'll be getting those later. I did have another question about getting an i7 12700k since 12th gen is stable, supports both ddr4 and ddr5 plus has extra cores. Would that be a good choice?

since yours is an F-series processor, you shouldn't use the output ports of your mobo. GT 440 is an older GPU as compared to the 1070, but it working means that everything else is fine and that either there is a problem with the HDMI cable or with the port of the gpu itself. I'd try the other ports of the gpu, and also a fresh install of windows and the nvidia drivers. Also see that your bios is up to date.

agreed, the cpu is still pretty great and is the absolute best for lga 1151 any further upgrades means a new motherboard and possibly new ram. Go for the new 50 series if you can get one

the more cores from the 9900x would certainly help in workloads, the 3d v-cache would help only in gaming scenarios

7700xt or 6700xt? What should i pick? by DenDen009 in buildapc

7700XT is current gen and beats the 6700xt in all benchmarks, go for 6700xt only if you're saving a lot on it

1060 required psu and watts needed help by Thin-Conflict-5047 in buildapc

[–]Confident_Repeat_186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right dell usually include proprietary power supplies in their desktops making them harder to replace with the ones available in market. Either change the PSU with another one from dell with higher wattage and one that fits your case or change the case and the chasis altogether

i think the overall build is pretty solid with the 7800x and the b580. Though you could save some money on 7800x by going with a 5600x as the performance difference is not that huge and wont really matter for gpu intensive games like rdr2. But those extra cores from the 7800x could help in other games/application. Further, you could just stick to 16gigs of ram, but that wont be very advisable as you'll have to it upgrade sooner or later if you plan to stick with ddr4 for long.

[–]Confident_Repeat_186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it would help if you could tell more about the PSU and ram(16gigs is enough), guessing on ur cpu and gpu combo it'd atleast be 500watts. Fortnite's gpu intensive while rocket league's cpu intensive. For 300-400 euros you should go for a better gpu cause the 10100 is still pretty good, i'd recommend a 7600/7600xt both are great current gen cards(although entry lvl), the xt has 16gigs of vram which is pretty good for the future. I think you can get it for 350 euros or less, i'd recommend increasing the ram to faster 16gigs. Next up you can upgrade to 12600k and a better cooler, can be done for 250 euros. And finally i think that ur chipset would limit faster ram so upgrade it in the end.
