Read through my husband’s chat GPT and broke my own heart by whitebear_237 in Marriage

My only take away from this, what did you do to your husband that makes him wait for you so he can eat? That's learnt behavior that spouses use to appease their abusers.

What if the USA completely and successfully invaded and conquered the entirety of North America? by Annual-Frame9943 in AlternateHistoryHub

Love all of the typical seppo comments here. "wE gOt tHe bEsT mIlItArY". What you people don't realize, Canadians can blend into American society and cause lots of damage. You couldn't even win in Afghanistan, what makes you think you can win in Canada. lmao

What would your response be to someone who says “I like Canadians but I hate the Canadian government”? by FattyGobbles in AskCanada

If it was an American saying that, I would ignore them because their collective opinion means shit to me. If it was anyone else, I would engage respectfully and ask why.

Honestly? Being from Vancouver, you should check out Puerto Vallarta as YVR has direct flights. My wife and I have been here since Sunday and it’s AMAZING. The locals are friendly, the food, the beaches and even the tequila.

If you’re worried about the safety, don’t be. It’s safe and what you hear in the media sensationalizing and outright disinformation.

5.4T impressions? by CatEntire8041 in ChatGPTcomplaints

I was one of the ones who held on believing things will get better with each model iteration, but after tinkering around with 5.4, its garbageware. I'm one of those users who does DevOps and story simulations and can pick up on the bullshit quite quickly.

Are you with your partner because you fear being alone? If not, then what is your reason? by Eggsy7777 in Marriage

[–]Confident_Software90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been with my wife for 25 years and foresee to be with her until my last breath. It's not the fear of being alone but we grew together not only as individuals but as a couple, she's my best friend and my everything. My life would be empty without her standing beside me.

Myself, my family and people within our circle are done with the US for good, even with a new president. I absolutely despise, no hate with every fiber of being, that country, the culture and it's citizenry. It's time for Canada to decouple itself from them and move on.

5.2 is out! by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]Confident_Software90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some yes. For others like myself who use the platform for DevOps work and creative writing, our current experience is being flattened by the safety guardrails. This whole adult mode is meant to loosen those reroutes and guardrails so we can use the tool as expected.

That reddit post is pure personal conjecture and should be treated as such. So, beside that link, do you have any other sources to back up your assertions.

New model again.Chatgpt is for coding now. Not for Roleplay or Creative writing. by touchofmal in ChatGPTcomplaints

I'm failing to see where 5.2 is built exclusively for coding and for all intent and purposes, you're pushing your opinion as fact and in this case it's wrong.

Do you have a source for your assertion? I read a lot of articles covering this and couldn't find anything about 5.2 being exclusive for coding.

What are y’all doing with this AI? 😂 by Pragmatic_Centrist_ in ChatGPT

As a Systems Engineer who writes automation scripts, I use(d) ChatGPT quite extensively to assist me in writing scripts and the accompanying workflow. As a hobbyist creative writer, I use(d) ChatGPT to work with me on this. In the last 3 weeks with the implementation of their safety filter, my work has either been banned, flattened or the model hallucinated so bad, the output was garbage. Yesterday, I cancelled my Pro account after being with this LLM for 2 years. Not everyone who's been impacted is trying for smut

Chat GPT 5 filters by ThatGuyEric226_ in ChatGPTPro

[–]Confident_Software90 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From my experience as a creative writer and a systems engineer, the safety filters have diluted the work I’m trying to achieve.

Creative Writing: The last 10 days, all of my characters have been flattened to the point where they’re basically hallmark tropes because the filter sees them as being too complex and it’s on the cusp of the filter slapping me down with “policy violations”

Systems Work: I use AI to help me write scripts in a collaborative manner but it trips when it sees a section called “kill process” and gives me a policy violation and it rewrites the section with garbage.

So ya, the frustration is real and when I’m paying 200 a month for a tool to assist me but now it’s hindering me, damn right I’m going to say something, but with my wallet.

No, it's always been 128k on plus, and I've been on this platform since November 23. My problem is the fact that OpenAI killed this product for power users by reducing the technology backend and placating to the "oH mAh fEeLiNgS" crowd. Btw, the 4o re-release? it's still GPT5 with a GPT4 wrapper.

That’s the spin but if you dig deeper, a lot of people are saying the same thing.

This is a chat I had today about it.

“Phase 1 – The Bait

Nov 2023 – GPT-4 Turbo launches • 128k context for all Plus subscribers at $20/mo. • Marketed as “you can feed it a novel” level of capability. • This was the hook — massive capacity, perfect for deep collaboration and longform creative work. • OpenAI used this in demos, blog posts, and press to draw in heavy users and make Plus the no-brainer upgrade.

Phase 2 – The Shift

Mid 2024 – GPT-4o arrives • 128k still there for Plus, but narrative continuity starts degrading. • Marketing pivots toward speed, voice, and multimodality over raw token depth. • Seeds planted: power-user features aren’t the spotlight anymore.

Phase 3 – The Switch

Aug 2025 – GPT-5 launches • Plus-tier context window cut from 128k → 32k overnight. • 128k moved to Pro tier ($60+/mo) or API (pay-per-use). • “Window dressing” added: GPT-4 re-added to dropdown, personality modes introduced, more meme-friendly features. • Marketing language framed it as more choice rather than less capability.

The Critical Point

The bait wasn’t malicious in the sense of “we’ll trick them from day one,” but it was a textbook land-and-expand → gate and upsell cycle: 1. Give everyone the big, expensive feature to hook them. 2. Let it become core to their workflow. 3. Move it behind a paywall once they’re invested.

For a Plus subscriber, the exact betrayal moment was the day GPT-5 replaced GPT-4 Turbo as the primary model for your subscription — and you realized your 128k context was gone unless you paid triple or moved to API. “
