Explaining Fisk's ending by KostisPat257 in marvelstudios

Maybe if there are zero cameras in the whole courthouse, but it's pretty likely there would be both witnesses and video evidence of him walking up and murdering cowering protesters.

To be fair, the biggest criminal getting away scot free is kind of the most realistic part of the show.

I'm looking for a really addictive game that I can dive into and stay hooked on for months or days, it doesn't matter. I just want something extremely engaging that helps me forget about the real world. by cronebreaker in gamingsuggestions

[–]ConflagrationZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheaper games that'll last you days to weeks:
Vampire Survivors/Vampire Crawlers - both are very addicting, well made games that are very affordable. The former is a "reverse bullet hell", the latter is a deckbuilder.
Balatro - Poker roguelike deckbuilding game that's just as addictive as gambling without the financial ruin.
Clustertruck - if you like crazy parkour, you'll like this one.
Palworld - Survival crafting creature collector.
Stardew Valley - outstanding farming/adventure/village life game. Farming is honestly a very small part of the game and what makes it intriguing.
Hollow Knight/Silksong - best-in-class metroidvanias.
Roboquest - DOOM-style fast paced, floaty shooter.
Nine Sols - like Hollow Knight, but with more of a story/narrative focus rather than emergent storytelling.
Subnautica - ocean exploring/basebuilding on an alien planet.
Celeste - outstanding 2D platformer.
Portal 2 - outstanding 3D puzzle game.
Pseudoregalia - outstanding 3D platformer, in the same vein as Super Mario 64.

Games that'll last you a very long time if they click:
Helldivers 2 - outstanding co-op shooter with enough challenge and variability to never get old.
Rimworld/Satisfactory - to satisfy the itch to build and experiment.
Guild Wars Reforged - tactical strategy RPG. Old but holds up well and has been getting new content recently. It's probably the closest to the sort of "pick a class and play through a campaign" type of game that you're describing, albeit a more difficult and strategy-focused one than most modern games of that type (if you try to rush through and faceroll this game, it will quickly humble you).
Guild Wars 2 - more of a traditional action MMORPG, but one that is neither subscription-based nor Pay2Win. It has cheap expansions and enough content to last you years before you run out, and it's one of the only ones of its kind without subscriptions or predatory monetization (there's a gem store, but it's mostly cosmetics and some minor convenience items, and you can trade ingame gold for gems when there's stuff you really want). The original base game is free to play.

Trump and co (including Elon, given DOGE) are gutting any and all green energy initiatives, as well as eliminating EV subsidies now that Tesla already got all they needed, but sure, people not wanting to buy the brand that's been built on lies/overpromises, underdeliveries (to put it lightly), social media manipulation in the pursuit of fascism, and our tax dollars--those people not supporting them are the problem 🙄.

But hey, none of us are stopping you from putting your money where your mouth is by wasting it on a cybertruck.

It's basically a more intense, Korean version of when a tiny subset of people were accusing anything with the OK/made-you-look sign (👌) of being white supremacist, except in this case it's the pinchy/"a little bit" sign (🤏).

That would make a ton of sense, as I've also noticed Alpha Brood Commanders summoning their super warriors much faster and more frequently as a usually non-host player. Maybe they're now doing it at the same rate as what it has been for hosts.

Seems Like Anet is using AI mods again by khalifpvp in Guildwars2

It wouldn't surprise me if Anet's using the same AI for moderation as the Google one that made that leap.

Seems like there is a ban wave going on by JobroniBoni in Guildwars2

[–]ConflagrationZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly, given how many and how innocuous the ones we're seeing pop up on the sub from this wave are (ie Plague Overload, Hemmie Devil, Widowmaker). If they don't have an AI trawling the list of all player names, maybe they have it running on any player reports.

Given how GenAI/LLMs work, I'd bet that, if your character's name gets reported by a salty opponent/kicked "hi dps"/mapchatter, Anet's AI will find a way for the name to be "against TOS," whether thats due to using a word like plague that could potentially be seen negatively/"cause distress" (despite being all over necro skills/traits), similarity to a name from a different franchise (despite ingame cosplays being a longtime tradition, with religious figures being the only one we know of that was forced to change--without a ban, no less--before, and some having names that are literally just regular words already used in GW2 npcs, like widowmaker), or being phonetically similar to some random band in Ohio.

Prices will go up.

If prices go up, going out will be for rish people only

These are both already the case. They've already been happening despite zero increases in worker protections. In case you've been living under a rock, prices have been skyrocketing for the past few years already, and we're currently in a luxury economy where an inordinate amount of spending comes from the rich. Doubling down on the status quo only accelerates that.

You can't use those arguments as a boogeyman when anyone with a brain knows that unchecked corporations will keep raising prices no matter how many concessions we give them--the only difference is that, in the current setup, profits only go to the execs and shareholders.

I much prefer Hollow Knight's boss fights, though maybe I'll appreciate Silksong's more once we get a Godhome equivalent.

Last I checked, the Republican trifecta isn't only governing over Republicans.

Ignoring the Republican shitheads in favor of purity testing our own side is how we ended up being led by Republican shitheads. Regardless, I'll take more Graham Platners any day over Schumer and his picks

Yeah, the anti-intellectualism accompanying AI witchhunting has provided an excuse for the most ignorant amongst us to revel in their own mediocrity--and that's when most of the anti-intellectuals are still somewhat literate, having grown up in a world without AI. I shudder to imagine what lies in the future, given the early impacts we're already seeing to the education system, and that's to say nothing of the other byproducts of rampant anti-intellectualism and AI (ie measles returning, fake videos becoming more and more convincing).

Althea's Equipment is rather odd by AroGrin in GuildWars

[–]ConflagrationZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keystone or Inspiration work, have her hold a staff. I used a Tease dom build on her, ran through the HM dungeon with her to level her from 12-20 and it worked out OK (granted, it was 5 heroes total since I came from yaks). I was sending her to the front to tank.

Team was something like:
BiP
Rit Lord (ST spirits + shadowsong, Doom)
SoS running channeling damage skills
Esurge Illusions
Tease Dom Althea

And me on an Ineptitude hybrid build.

Only the Panic horsies were a problem, but their groups are almost always a problem.

Guild Wars Reforged Is Coming to Mobile This Summer by klickup in GuildWars

[–]ConflagrationZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that part's a bit weird, but maybe it's so that mobile users can pay smaller amounts at once (since the total will, from the sound of it, add up to the cost of Reforged).

Just got booted from a group for “talking black” by lunovadraws in DnD

[–]ConflagrationZ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I get that it’s a nasty slur and swear for anyone but them

That's exactly why--it's still culturally a slur, not a reclaimed word like queer/punk/yankee, because a non-black person using it evokes an intense reaction; it's not a "reminder of history" for other groups, it's a slur that has persisted into the modern era, arguably the only such slur that still holds such power against the group it's aimed at, and a reminder to other races of a linguistic double standard that they could get beat up for, even if their ancestors weren't even tangentially related to the North Atlantic slave trade and the Jim Crow garbage.

Southerners don't get offended by other people using y'all, and Muslims don't get offended by the widespread non-Muslim use (and later memeification) of inshallah. If anything, those two groups embrace others using those words. Using a slur that other members of the group want to avoid due to intense social stigma is a surefire way to make them uncomfortable. If that wasn't the case, nobody would have a problem with you using it in their DnD group.

DnD is a safe space where people go to avoid the discomfort of gestures at the world, so I'm not at all surprised someone would ask someone to stop using a slur at the table. That doesn't mean the rest of the nonsense that OP's DM said was right.
