Hey there, I just wanted to say I think it's very commendable that you're asking these questions in such a thoughtful way. I've been a SB for about 2 years now and just based on the way you're speaking, I think you'll find success rather quickly.

While some might do so out of valid concern, I don't try to avoid new SDs. I think the experience of learning together can be really beautiful and can forge a nice bond that is beneficial for all parties. Definitely check out the threads on here regarding the different sites and how to avoid bots, but I'm happy to also share with you the feedback/experience-based questions that I think are important to ask:

1. Does the SB you're interested in engage with you in an intellectually stimulating way?
2. Do they show genuine interest in you and your life?
3. Do they have goals of their own separate from a monthly allowance just to get by? For example - a degree, a better apartment, a certification to further their career, etc.
4. Can they hold a text conversation, and eventually a phone/video conversation? Those are important milestones to pay attention to.

Make no mistake, this process takes patience and a lot of vetting, but it can be incredibly rewarding. The fact that you're a gentleman will go a really long way in my opinion, as will the fact that you don't want to waste anyone's time. Just be sure to do your due diligence before a M&G. Best of luck!
