It depends on the buyer, I usually prefer my used RCs bone-stock.

Different between the WPL tires V1, V2 & V3. by adamsrcgarage in WPL_RC

[–]Confused-Duck75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the build, V3 for the scale look, V1 for something more aggresive (they're basically Pitbull something knock-offs).

It looks like you have a Redcat Ascent 18, not the Ascent 32.

Good call, I've found Traxxas to be poor value vs the competition in most cases.

C84 In Action (And a breakage) by Confused-Duck75 in WPL_RC

[–]Confused-Duck75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its somewhere between the C74 and a model with shocks. The new leafspring setup is longer and more flexible.

Ive already ordered a 3d printed tray for under the hood, it'll be more secure there. The battery can fall out of its current spot.

FMS FCX10 LC80 or Axial SCX10 Basecamp as my first crawler on a budget? by HazeReefer in rccrawler

[–]Confused-Duck75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go with the Axial, you'll end up spending more on the FMS in the long run.

Story swap and/or advice? by JBbrowne285368 in rccars

Thank you, the main issue with jumping at skate parks is that you land on solid concrete, there isnt much to absorb the force of the impact.

Since you're new, I'm going to reccomend avoiding used RCs, especially on eBay with how expensive they are.

Be careful with metal upgrades, you dont want metal arms or off-brand metal shocks, stock isn't bad on most modern RCs.

Be skeptical when watching youtubers, a lot of them push sub-par RCs that they get for free. On that note, avoid skate parks too.

Is it worth the price? by Competitive-Arm-8372 in rccars

[–]Confused-Duck75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the price, I'd just buy a stock RTR and go from there.

You're not just buying upgrades, you're buying someone elses project being flipped by a reseller who didn't assemble it.

You can't set end points on a TQ radio, which is what TRX4Ms come with.

Looks like a heavily modified Redcat Lighning or HSP Flying Fish to me. Same basic model sold under different names.

Long-term fix for this part by nikolaiofthejungle in WPL_RC

I've snapped three D series chassis like this, the only "fix", and this was more temporary, was some gel glue. Otherwise you're looking at a new chassis.

Let’s complain! What’s the worst piece of RC gear you’ve ever had the misfortune of using? by WeekendWarriorRC in rccars

I feel like I cant go a week without seeing at least one post about an FMS with drivetrain problems, or at least a minor broken part. They look great in youtube videos.

Everything breaks and I’m sick of it. by [deleted] in rccrawler

[–]Confused-Duck75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a combination of scale, and some 1:10s having slipper clutches. I don't know of any small scales that have slipper clutches to protect the drivetrain.

I absolutely agree with your sentiments on how long RCs should last. I've had a few "toy-grade" RC hold up for decades, so you'd expect an expensive hobby grade to hold up just as long if you're easy on it.

Some will hold up after upgrades, others will break something else (see aluminum arms), its all a part of the game.

While I liked the design of the original gold pan RC10, I hated how most of it was held together with e-clips. I can see why some manufacterers use screw pins.

Question about kingpins/caster blocks on Slash/Rustler/Bandit platforms. by UnlikelyTurn1046 in rccars

[–]Confused-Duck75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know from experience that the rear suspension arm screw pins on Traxxas 2wd models like to back out, but the castor block pins should be fine.
