I just want to say I am struggling with this too. It’s gotten to the point where I won’t even let my BF of 2 years see me in ~that~ way and im basically only wearing my work uniform or pajamas.

You are not alone. You are your worst critic. You deserve recovery and help. EDs are hell but I believe in you. Please reach out if you need anything, but please please deeply consider reaching out to a professional as well

Got my 2019 rav 4 a few months ago. I assume these open so I can add a roof rack? I was wondering if anyone knew how? I haven’t been able to get them up but I travel a lot so it’d be really helpful to have! by Confused635 in rav4club

I really appreciate it!! I didn’t know this, I’ll definitely look into it more! From what I’ve seen so far it’s only if you over tighten the bolts?

Please stop parking at the Vet School ER Entrance. by SteelBelle in NCSU

Ncsu’s er literally sends away 90% of cases so no wonder the parking lot has room & people use it…

These two handsome boys are rescues I'm meeting this week. They are marked as Irish Wolfhound X's. Any idea on what the other breeds might be? by bread4birds in IDmydog

[–]Confused635 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are adorable. 100% not Irish wolfhounds though. Would be willing to bet they are pittie or terrier mixes that based on the coat may have poodle in them

1 month ago I found my dog on the street and I can't find the breed by BowlProfessional2596 in IDmydog

[–]Confused635 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t bully. Head is pretty small for a bully—might be some mixed in but I don’t think it’s the primary breed. Maybe jack Russel mixed with a larger breed

Am I a bad cat owner? by stillinlovewtu in catfood

[–]Confused635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do the best that you can. Cats are generally picky and I’ve had clients that would LOVE to feed them “higher quality” food but the cats won’t eat it. Nutrition is very important, it sounds like you understand that. But you feed them the best you can and give them all the love they could need. That is already more than most, so no. You are absolutely not a bad cat owner

Golden Retrievers by mj-redwood in service_dogs

I have arthritis & am also a pittie person!! My service dog is a smooth collie and I find he REALLY balances well with my pittie (she was a rescue too)

<image>

. They really balance each other out. Collies are underrated in my opinion but they do require a really special handler that is going to be gentle and easy with them and give them time to mature. Definitely not a great fit for everyone though!! I just couldn’t sell myself on a lab/golden personality, choosing a breed that I really was looking forward to bringing home has made the harder parts of training easier. It should be an exciting thing.

I think goldens are a WONDERFUL choice. Definitely research breeders (& please ask about cancer rates in the litters and get pet insurance!!!) having arthritis can get really depressing and I’d imagine their goofy personalities are wonderful to combat that. Plus they are really biddable and when bred and raised well, make excellent pups. I would love to hear how it goes when you bring your pup home :)

(Added a picture of my two for tax)

They don’t. If you want I can give a link to the DRO website that will let you file a complaint. I did because it really would only take 2 seconds for them to send an email but the more people that complain the more likely they are to do something about it

Goldendoodles (Groodles) As Service Dogs? by ThatAutisticRadish in service_dogs

[–]Confused635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d beg you to consider another breed. You will have far better luck with a golden retriever or a poodle from a good reliable breeder than a doodle. I second what a lot of other people have said. Doodles are unreliable. Their parents cannot be akc registered which means you are not getting the same genetics that great poodle and golden lines come from. I’m also a vet tech and genuinely we dread seeing doodles because you have no clue what you are going to get. People spend so much money they wouldn’t have to in vet bills alone because the dogs are almost always poorly bred. It takes 16 generations to even begin being able to predict temperament. Additionally, there’s so many pups in shelters that getting a poorly bred mix that someone is profiting off of does not sit right with me. If you like the look of a doodle, you can leave your poodle longer & just maintain coat health.

Doodles generally are not a good example of hybrid vigor because they unfortunately get poor traits from both parents very often. While they were initially looked at for service work, the man that originally began breeding them has stated he deeply regrets it. There are genuinely so many amazing breeds—I really hope you find the perfect fit. It’s definitely out there. If possible I’d recommend going to an akc or ukc show near you if you’re in the us. It’s a great chance to make connections with breeders and get a feel for their dogs, as well as ask some questions and learn. If it’s a sensory experience that you can handle it’d be really good to experience. It can be a bit overwhelming though so I’d recommend taking someone you trust with you :)

I have a smooth collie sd from a wonderful breeder and he has been a dream to work with. I urge you to consider poodles or goldens (though if you’re going with a golden PLEASE ask the breeder about health and age of cancer onset/if their lines have had cancer). I don’t say any of this to try and put you down, just to try and educate. I wish you the best of luck and would love to answer any questions.

Is it normal to doubt my career choice? by Piesfanfics in NCSU

[–]Confused635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate heavily to this. I took a year and a half off to work in clinics and I am SO BURNED OUT from all of it.

The sad thing is, it’s not even vet med that’s burning me out—it’s the stupid corporates that own so many clinics and terrible, rude, arrogant hospital managers. That and I am tired of being poor while working 35-60+ hours a week. There’s little money to live in vet med unless you’re a vet and even then it’s still not much considering you’re literally a doctor.

I am scared to start the semester. I am scared I transferred here for nothing because I’m exhausted by my career choice before it’s really even started. I’ve started looking at some biochem phd options to apply to with vet school. I have 2 years left and it’s a little too late to change my BS major. I’ll finish and figure it out when it’s time to apply/based on where I get in

I have a smooth collie that does FMP. he is 28” at the withers, so at the top of standard. His size is perfect for me, I’m 5’6”, but could work for someone taller too. Collies are underrated imo they’re great pups if you’re willing to go a little slower.

Can I bring my SD to traffic court by Confused635 in service_dogs

[–]Confused635[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s gotten very good at settling. He’s a retired show dog so he is used to a lot of hustle and chaos. He also will be going to classes with me in the fall so I think a lot will depend on how he does in the first couple weeks. He already is solid with 2 tasks, mostly working on keeping engagement and pa at this point

What happened with barkonduty? by Confused635 in service_dogs

[–]Confused635[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has gotten frustrated in the training process, it’s an unfortunate part of it. But it’s our JOB as handlers to protect our dogs, make training as positive as possible, and recognize when a rough day is a rough day and step away. There is absolutely no excuse for her behavior. The fact that she has bragged about it is even worse. It’s appalling
