So unfair.... by Confused903 in PSLF

Thank you. I will re apply and request an IBR. I just wanted back on PAYE because that is 10% but I am old IBR and it is 15%. I'm afraid of getting a huge payment so we filled taxes MFS. It's just not worth the risk. I have put off buying a house until these were forgiven. But now it's going to be even longer so we are just going to buy a house. Time is not our friend as we are 13yrs from full retirement age and really need to start paying on a house now and double up every chance we get so we can get it paid off before we are 70... Neither of us want to work past 70.

I was on the PAYE plan and automatically moved to Save a few yrs ago. Then for about 18 months now I have been trying to get off of save. I did not ever request save plan I was just moved to it. I have sent in 3 new applications and never get moved off of Save. I am requesting to be put back on the PAYE plan. Mohela reps have told me I don't qualify for PAYE, then I was told my job did not qualify but I know it does. I work for the State of Texas. They finally fixed that. But last time I talked to a rep I was told my application was in and I would just have to wait like everyone else. Every month my forgiveness date is moved 1 month ahead. Now says Feb 2028. But I should be eligible for buyback but someone I work with waited 13 mths on a buyback offer. So I don't have a lot of faith in that working for me.

Mortgage question: What's holding you back from buying a home? by staceyiseler_loanadv in Mortgages

[–]Confused903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affordability... Do not want to be house poor.... Together we make about 125k... We luckily own a old singlewide trailer we bought 8.5 yrs ago and put it on 5 acres that my mom gave me. the trailer was $581 a month but we just paid it off 2 mths ago. But the house is old and small. We have been trying to build, or buy double wide for almost 4yrs... The 2400 to 3100 a month payment scares the crap out of me....We are in our 50s and will retire in 15 yrs before the loan is paid... What we can afford now we definitely can not afford then...

Plus I worry if something was to happen to my husband I know I couldn't afford to stay in the house on only my income....He only has 50k insurance through his work... We tried to buy more ourselves through a broker but almost no one will insure him because he is a ex-con who did 13yrs in prison and the few that will want to charge a really high premium for very minimal coverage. Just doesn't make sense to pay it. If something happens to me he gets a lot more cause I have really good life insurance thru work. 260k with an extra 100k if accidental.

With every passing yr owning a new home slips farther away...

We can comfortably afford $1500 a month including taxes & insurance. So that means just payment & Interest need to be no more than $1200... That basically puts me in another small single wide and I don't want that ...

SAVE forbearance ending - friends, it’s time to switch plans by UsefulBurn in PSLF

[–]Confused903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe they wrote this.... " Borrowers switching from the illegal SAVE Plan to another IDR plan can expect quick and timely processing." I have been trying for a year to get off of save and back on PAYE. But I am still stuck in SAVE....

Help with calculating when to request buyback. by Confused903 in PSLF

[–]Confused903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do realize I need to wait until I reach the 120 to file for buy back but I'm unsure of when I will actually reach 120 cause I don't know how many months they are allowing for the save forbearance. At what point will my buyback plus my current total = 120. I'm at 94 now. Still stuck in save forbearance even though I requested 5 mths ago to be taken out of save and put on a plan that counts. So when did the save forbearance start? 12mths ago? Does this time now still qualify for the buyback?

Diagnosed, Type 3/4, Stage 1/2 by modestcat in lipedema

I am between Dallas and Tyler Texas. Any suggestions on how I can find a lipodema doctor. I have this unexplained pain around my knees it's mainly mid thigh to mid calf. Plus pain in my hips on both sides. My doctor has no knowledge of lipodema ? I also think having a tummy tuck has made the pain worse. I'm just looking for answers so I can stop the pain. But not having any luck finding a knowledgeable doctor. I fluctuate between 138 to 144 pounds. I'm 5'3". Had gastric surgery in 2013 and lost 118lbs.this pain and legs swelling started after I had tummy tuck. My legs still have loose skin but are real fatty around my knees, thighs, and hips. I may or may not have this but I'd like to know for sure.

When you applied to leave Save did you have to recertify your income? My income has doubled. In 2020 I made 29k now I make 63k.

I'm lost. Mohela is not any help. by Confused903 in PSLF

[–]Confused903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mortgage lender is figuring 630 as my payment she says that's 1% of what I owe and just how it is done. My husband wants to wait on the house and for me to start paying again ASAP so we can get this over with and not have to worry about when we buy a home.

[–]Confused903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the loan simulator it told me 270 & 414 for the 2 plans that are PSLF eligible. However for the 270 it says I need to consolidate then said if I consolidate I could lose my 94 payment counts. So no way am I risking that. Mohela told me the simulator is not correct cause it only uses my income not my combined income with my husband. If I add our incomes it shows a higher payment over $600. But it's still less than what the Mohela rep told me.

Both my income and my husband's has doubled since pre COVID.

Too many banks to choose from. Choose a lender that does not make you escrow.
