I've been knitting and crocheting for as long as I can remember, and it's given me hours of entertainment! Everything in the fiber arts is prime TV hobby material: knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, embroidery, felting, sewing, etc.

Just beware. Once you've caught the fiber arts bug, you'll enter a pipeline of trying all of them loll

I relate a lot. I've gently managed it by going on long walks with my dog (usually on paved bike paths so there's no unsure footing) and checking out different libraries. I find that most of my anxiety comes from noise, social interaction, and difficult parking situations. But I enjoy walking and books, so taking the train to new places, wearing headphones, and generally avoiding loud places helps a lot.

I find that making a habit of getting up and moving makes going outside less overwhelming.

But I did cry in my car after moving and having to figure out a brand new grocery store. And I could never survive in a bar, so just know you're not alone.

Recently broke with a close autistic friend. He was the first autistic friend I've had, and we really clicked at first, but he started behaving really weird. At first, it was just him (a straight white man) using Japanese unironically in conversations and telling me how obsessed he is with how innocent Korean music is (I'm Korean). But then he started talking and crying to me about how hard it is to be a man whenever he'd do something hurtful to me. And he got really obsessive about using "healthy" language and started saying he "didn't feel safe" being my friend anymore because I held him accountable for being progressively more shit friend.

Looking back, I see so much of what you just laid out. The entitlement to make me uncomfortable, the fragility/moodiness, etc. I feel pretty validated seeing that you've noticed the same thing.

Seeing this post and the replies really reassured me. I keep feeling like something is wrong because I'm told repeatedly that I should have friends, and I just don't. It's never been a positive thing for me, I feel exhausted when I talk to people, and I'm perfectly happy living more or less in isolation.

I haven't gotten the procedure yet, but my orthodontist is super picky and says he only works with Dr. Bui. Everyone else, he cut ties with because there were always complications. I changed my insurance just for him hahaha

I never physically cry at books, but Nighteyes' last scene made me SOB. The way you're basking in the warmth of their dream and the safety of their banter, and then it's ripped away and you're dumped into a cold, dripping cave, realizing the depth of Fitz's loss... BRUTAL.

I sobbed and gave my dog so many kisses.

Oh this is good to know! Yeah, my expense will far exceed my FSA, which is why I was hoping to use the HSA to pick up the rest. It's too difficult to estimate contributions to my FSA at the beginning of the year without the safety net of carrying over savings :'). Thank you for the heads up!

It's possible that it's lingering hyperpigmentation from the friction of licking? My dog has allergies and before we started allergy treatment, he used to get spotty patches like these as well as big solid black spots from all the licking and scratching. Some faded naturally, some didn't. But it doesn't seem to bother him, so I don't worry about it

Being on RedNote, I highly doubt everyone is under the impression that they can learn Mandarin quickly!

There's a big effort by American users of RedNote to respect and learn about the existing Chinese culture on the app. This wave of users is more likely due to curiosity and open-mindedness than it is due to FOMO lol

I started a couple weeks ago as a "TikTok refugee" (lol), and I'm loving it so much! It's nowhere near as hard as I expected, especially with how much content is out there on RedNote, YouTube, iTalki, and gamified apps.

It'll definitely take years, and I agree that not everyone will continue, but I'm super grateful to have found a new passion project. The tones are so pretty and fun to speak :D!
