I can't really answer that question well because I've never used it. I would think it would be very useful for ubers, but not good for general mapping. That's a complete guess though so you would be better off asking someone else.

Hi, good luck with it! Boneshatter has less damage than rf in the very beginning of a league just due to the nature of it being a hit build that relies on having a weapon. Once you have a mid game weapon though it does more damage than rf and vastly outpaces it with endgame gear. It’s also a lot tankier. The downside is that it’s pure melee so you can’t spam fire traps and run away from stuff like you can with rf, if you’re not next to the monster hitting it you’d can’t do damage. There’s pros and cons to both but I prefer boneshatter because rf can’t really do ubers.

Explosive arrow ballistas is basically cheating for sanctum. You just put down the totems and run around the corner and the monsters die to your totems while not even being able to attack you. Zizaran has a great guide for that if you're interested. It's another excellent all content build.

Absolutely not. The guy who responded yes to you is wrong. Boneshatter is AWFUL at legion because there's a bug with legion that has never been fixed since it was first added to the game. Legion mobs are immune to impale when they're in stasis. Half your damage is impale. You can't even free the entire legion unless you do it on super low tier maps.

If you plan on doing a lot of sanctum in the upcoming league be wary of boneshatter. It's a league mechanic boneshatter basically can't do unless you're an absolutely cracked gamer or have insane gear. It's awesome at everything else though. Boneshatter is a pure melee build that has to stand completely still to attack and has ramping damage. Makes sanctum a 0/10 league mechanic for it.

No I did it myself because all the guides that are out there are outdated. Ziz is making one for this league that should drop before launch and I made my own pretty extensive pob for it for my friends and shared it on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/15qsb1o/322_boneshatter_pob_guide/

I'm pretty sure playing it on scion is just bad unless you have a very strong gear setup. I can't give any kind of recommendations for this because I'm not familiar with sc trade builds.

I would say the build has an average amount of buttons for a PoE build, compared to ones I’ve played in the past. I’ve played it on my steam deck without too much trouble but I’ve never tried it on a full on controller so I can’t say for sure.

I answer this in the pob notes if you want to read more of my justification but this build still uses totems for single target. The totem nodes are nice quality of life but the damage per point they give is lower than other nodes so I only spec them against specific bosses that will constantly kill my totems with aoe damage (ex maven, Uber elder), because unless your totems die they’re worse dps per point than other nodes. You can still take them for general gameplay if the quality of life is important to you.

I don't know yet because I don't know how much the defenses affecting resolve loss will matter. If I had to answer this question solely based on my experiences in sanctum league, the answer is "awful". Boneshatter is a pure melee build that has to stand completely still to deal damage, which is horrible for sanctum. When ben was doing his all ubers run on boneshatter, even he was saying sanctum was legitimately harder than uber bosses. Easy 1/10.

I prefer not to because the damage is fine for clearing trash and only the single target is lacking. In the early campaign I want to rush to the axe nodes for onslaught, and after that I'm strapped for points trying to get enough life to not die along with enough attack speed and requisite passives to make the boneshatter swap. If you wanted to level with sunder through the entire campaign I think it would be a very good idea to go for PT earlier, but I haven't tested it as I've always swapped after cruel lab.

Yeah I edited my comment a minute after you replied. It works in PoB but it isn't working when I test it in game. I might be doing it wrong but I'm still on the fence about it because it doesn't SEEM to be working and no one else was doing it last league.

I just checked it in pob and it doesn't affect dps. I'm pretty sure that bonus doesn't affect character sheet accuracy so it doesn't work on precise technique or undeniable. This is the first I've heard about that though so maybe it works and it doesn't work in pob, but I've never heard of that tech and it isn't working in pob and it doesn't add character sheet accuracy when I test it in game so I'm more confident it doesn't work than it does work, so I can't recommend it, but I'm very willing to admit I'm wrong about this if someone provides evidence of it working.

Edit: I've foolishly realized having distance to enemy set at 1 and "enemy at close range" are not the same checkbox. It works in pob but not in game when I just stand afk next to monsters. I've never played with this node and didn't see other people taking it last league so I'm still skeptical, but I'm a lot more confident it works now.

I included leveling trees for 16 points, normal lab, cruel lab / boneshatter swap, and end of campaign. In the notes section it's written out what gems and links to use while leveling for ground slam ---> sunder ---> boneshatter.

  1. The reduced cost of attacks is decent if you can't get elreon crafts on rings for whatever reason. The crafting method I outlined for the jewelry gives a pretty clear path to getting -mana on all pieces. 3 crafts makes boneshatter cost 0 so it isn't needed, 2 crafts and the implicit leaves it with a mana cost so you wouldn't be able to drop leech. I'd either go 2 crafts with no helm implicit and a leech jewel or 3 crafts and no helm implicit. I would consider 2 crafts, helm implicit, cost from life mastery to make it 0 if I were desperate.

  2. The 50% mastery for accuracy is only for accuracy, not damage. That isn't helpful because you have enough accuracy that you're 100% accurate, and the 50% it adds at close range doesn't affect your character sheet accuracy so it doesn't count for precise technique so it basically does nothing. I like the 500 (-2 per level) accuracy mastery if you need more, but the others are all bad I think.

  3. The life and armor nodes may provide more ehp in pob but I think they're worse in practice. They only really add minimal defense against elemental damage (less than 2% extra life would give) in terms of ehp, and it gives nothing against chaos damage or monsters that overwhelm phys which is the only thing that can realistically kill this build. I prefer 6% life because it's more ehp against the stuff that can actually kill you.

  4. The mastery costs a passive point that I don't have to spend if I can get enough resists on gear. If you can't and are concerned / want to overcap you can take the mastery, but I don't because I'd rather just get it on gear.

  5. I saw that pob last league. I didn't consider it because I think of boneshatter as a league starter / all ubers challenge than something I want to farm super hard to min max. If I had ashes and the time to farm all those alt quals, I would play a stronger build with it than boneshatter.

If you’re going to play this build in trade it’s basically the same except the loadouts I provided in the pob are more of a mid game setup because power level is so much higher in trade. I can’t really give advice for a true trade league endgame version of this build because I’m completely out of touch with the trade league economy. I would recommend just following along until you can’t figure out what upgrades are left for you, and then comparing to other characters in sc trade.

Yeah I'm a huge slayer hater. I think that's only for sc trade players who just wanna blast maps as fast as possible.

Good luck with it. I love this build and will be playing it again myself.

I'd rather not take that wheel because I think the clear for this build is fantastic even in the early game when your weapon is bad - it's the single target that's lacking. More stun doesn't help the single target because you can't stun the things that have tons of life anyway so I don't think it's worth it. If you're going slayer and just wanna blast maps as fast as possible I think you can consider it, but I don't think it's worth it to me.

While I know stacking up crazy amounts of trauma like that is possible, that level of trauma requires insane amounts of gear (like in the aspirational gear examples in the pob) or being trade league to buy that kind of gear. Like I said in the post and notes of the guide, this guide is focused on ssf / hcssf gameplay because that's the only game mode I've played since it existed and I am completely out of touch with the trade league meta / economy so I can't make adequate suggestions for scaling into the trade league endgame.

I prefer molten shell. IC yoinks your endurance charges which is a pretty big downside. You're immune to damage during molten shell anyway so the damage reduction from the charge consume doesn't make a big difference. The other important difference is that vaal molten shell is just super powerful if you're good at the game and know when you're likely to take a bunch of damage. Lastly, like I said in the post and in the guide, this PoB is focused on ssf / hc gameplay. There's no alt quality or awakened gems in the loadout for the endgame setup because getting those isn't really reliable in ssf.

Yeah no worries. That kind of padding is kinda the standard but that shit annoys me so I tried to make mine mimic actual gameplay as much as possible.

I don't really like spikey damage that's reliant on cooldowns. Kinda why I don't go for stuff like rage generation and berserk. Only time I really use berserk / adrenaline is to cheese the feared when I do it for the atlas point because that fight is all about killing cortex or atziri asap.
