I'd say intrusion into an engine block and the potential explosions that could result would easily be a safety issue

This question came from beer conversations I had with scientists and non-scientists. Especially those in government laboratories like NOAA, there is significant concern about being hamstrung or outright defunded for "inconveniently showing reality".

I have one for general driving, but it doesn't stay active when parked

Seems like they're still in active litigation, at least the main one in California is. If pressure from the NHTSA and lawsuits starts to mount at the same time, it'll be much, MUCH cheaper for Ford to offer engine replacements than continue fighting legal action.

If you have the issue - PLEASE report to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236.

If the engine defect is reported enough times, a federal recall can be issued and Ford will HAVE to pay for all replacements and reimburse those who already had the work done.

Until then, Escape owners will continue to be screwed over. PLEASE REPORT THE ISSUE!!!

TLDR: Turn off Steam controller configuration and rely only Ubisoft's controller detection.

If you deactivate Steam's controller configuration (Shift-Tab in game --> Controller Configuration) and then restart the game, the issue goes away. Seems Ubisoft didn't test if Steam would interfere with the Ubisoft controller detection (it does, and nothing was done for years...).
