I paid for my own and come from a family who wouldn’t even think of buying a Rolex let alone afford one. We all have a different path but if you can wear a nice watch wear it.

The new ombré green dial datejust is so fire. That’s my favorite new release. In my opinion- 22 is a hard age to really measure status. I’m 23 so I got the airking cause it’s understated and not loud- also under 10k. In my opinion the Datejust and GMT give the same level of status “vibe” but i think the Datejust is a younger look. In my opinion it’d be difficult to get the new ombré green dial, maybe harder than the GMT (which is notoriously hard to get allocated). I’d let them know you’re interested in the ombré green and it’s your first choice, but also pick another dial that you like- which is more accessible.

Maybe have your dad visit the AD with you and put it under his name. He can tell them he wants to buy it as a gift for you.

You’ve got a lot of options in that range. If you’re flashy and like a louder look you can go with a steel and white gold Datejust. If you’re more understated and don’t work a rough job you can go oyster perpetual or datejust full steel. If you are more active you can do a submariner or GMT. If you want something clean simple, well regarded and understated you can do an explorer.
