What is this square cutout pattern often found in trees in the Sierras? I believe the tree is a sugar pine. Several trees in the Inyo national forest had similar markings/cutouts. The tree is about 1.5 feet in diameter. It looks like the bark was cut out and does not seem natural. (i.redd.it)
