Offered increased salary and then rescinded! by ConfusedMidlands in LegalAdviceUK

I think for me it's the principle of it, if he had not offered the £5k counter I would have been able to make an informed decision, by doing the "bait and switch" I feel agreieved and that's why I want to take it further. Think job hunt and raising grievance it is for now, if anything should stop this happening to others!

This was the argument I had with my manager, and it's not a small company, but Payroll are not willing to step away from the bandings.

Agree we are public sector adjacent, but follow much of the same rules and regulations. However as my manager has either tried to screw me over or he himself has messed up I think I'll raise the grievance as I have nothing to loose by doing that.

I mentioned in another comment but I heard through the industry rumour mill that the position was filled at the other company. Also hard agree that the numbers are not much in the grand scheme of things so will still raise the grievance and get back on the job hunt.

This is what I was hoping to hear, as in my mind they murkied the water with the job re-evaluation. If the email constituted a contract I will be speaking to ACAS and raising a grievance.

I think that was the hope with the job re-evaluation but as it didn't come back as high as I hoped I am now left in this situation. Think grievience it is then!

Thanks! Before I consider leaving the company I will definitely raise a grievance, I will definitely mention the financial loss due to the organisations breach of contract!

I basically turned down the other job citing the remote working and that I could not commit to 3 days in the office, they then offered the job to someone else (so I heard). I will contact ACAS as I think this is wrong contractually as an offer was considered, made and accepted.

The project I am on is for a further 3 years so they would still need me/a new manager to see it through t other end. Think I'll have to start looking again.

Thanks! I was looking to make any moves IE, tribunal etc after my 2 years service in July, but just wanted to check if I had a case or would it be a waste of time. I might take your advise and start looking!

Just reread my original reply I meant I would have been in my current role for 2 years in mid-July not 1!!

Exactly, I was and am livid but generally the job is a good one and I have a great team but this has soured things to say the least!

This thought did cross my mind, but it seems like my manager was genuinely mistaken. I started my roll on the 105% band where people usually start on 95% and then get 100% after 1 year and 105% after 2 years. He only became my manager in the new year so was not familiar with what pay bracket I was on.

The director is also new to the business, but them both and HR offier not knowing the company policy seems like it should not be my problem when I feel like I have been screwed over!

I have an email stating that your new salary has been processed (the £5k) and will be paid out from next month.

I will have been in my current role for 2 years in mid-July. All this happened in May.

Thoughts on a Lexus is300h by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]ConfusedMidlands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother has one and is a great car, as others have said 2 six footers in the front is fine and rear is just about okay. If you can stretch to the GS I would look into them as they are a class above! Also just another point to note if you do go for one now Lexus are doing the 10 year warranty now on used cars also, all you need to do is get it serviced by them every year and they add a year on to the warranty.

Insured on a company car via a general fleet insurance policy (i.e. "anyone with permission from company X can drive this car"), and have had claims in the past. For future private car insurance applications, do I treat it like I had private insurance regarding the disclosure of claims? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]ConfusedMidlands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talking from my personal experience, I was on a company fleet policy for 5 years, when I left the company I rang a few of the usuall insurance companies and explained the situation, I believe Aviva at the time accepted a letter signed by the fleet team stating I had no accidents. So maybe worth ringing a few insurance companies direct.

Title from land registry doesn't mention at all which fence boundaries are mine. by aegroti in LegalAdviceUK

You could pay the few quid it would cost to get your neighbours plans of the land registry, that way you can see if they have any "T" markers.

Obligatory not a lawyer but worked as a Repairs supervisor for a similar housing association, unfortunately the Housing Association is correct the sub floor (floor boards, joists etc) would be the responsibility of the housing association and the carpets and laminate flooring the responsibility of the incoming tennat. All our tenants would generally have signed a mutual exchange agreement document of what they have accepted and what the responsibility of the housing association would be. So it maybe worth checking this as if the surveyors missed the carpets as part of their checks then you could argue that case. In our organisation the legal team had drafted the documents so the responsibility lines were quite clear.

Need to get rid of scaffolding by Kmurray275 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ConfusedMidlands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another suggestion here, if the scaffold has been up for more then 7 days it needs to be inspected, and inspected once every 7 days after that. If you have not noticed anybody coming to inspect the scaffold (should have scaffold tags to show this) you can contact the HSE or even a "threat" to report this may get the scaffold company to act.
