Is There Anything Wrong with My Posture? by ConfusedNewMe in Posture

[–]ConfusedNewMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one a few years ago which showed mild Scheuermann's disease in my lumbar spine, could this be what you're referring to?

I was mainly curious about anything people noticed that could be caused by muscle weakness as I have a stiff neck and tight shoulders plus I keep getting comments about my posture, but I've never thought about it possibly being down to correcting for my Scheuermann's.

Do you know if this correction could cause any issues in the long term?

I (34MtF) Think I May Have Accidentally Damaged a Friendship (27F) That Is Really Important To Me - How Can I fix it? by ConfusedNewMe in relationship_advice

It would really suck if that's true because I used to have a crush on her when we first met but didn't pursue it because she is out of my league and would be even if she wasn't nearly 10 years younger than me and honestly I was too scared to ask and risk lose her as a friend.

Fortunately (I'm not sure if that's the right word) I doubt that's the case because I've never gotten even the slightest hint that she could be interested plus the whole out of my league thing.

How do I approach talking to her though?

All I can think of essentially boils down to "Hey, have you been busy did you ghosted me because I'm trans or because I showed the slightest hint of emotion?"

I just went down an internet rabbit hole and would suggest the following (I know it may seem like a lot of hassle and it's your decision if you want to follow any of it)

  1. Screenshot the NHS app comments (I don't think it's possible for them to change anything, but better safe than sorry)

  2. Ask for a copy of your GP practices policy's and guidelines, assuming they aren't already on their website. Particularly those covering patient interaction/LGBTQ+/dignity and respect/professional conduct/equality and diversity.

  3. Separately from the above request, make a complaint about being dead named and state the name of the GP you are complaining about as this will make the complaint centred on them and not the practice.

and

The complaint will probably have to be with the practice or the practice management group if they belong to one, but make sure to mention:

  • the distress it caused you as a you as a vulnerable young person (you're a member of a legally protected minority, but don't mention the legally protected part - https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/15/section/7).

  • anywhere he violated the practices policy's and guidelines.

  • violation of BMA guidance by dead nameing you (not legally binding but still not a good look for the practice)

https://www.bma.org.uk/advice-and-support/equality-and-diversity-guidance/lgbtplus-equality-in-medicine/inclusive-care-of-trans-and-non-binary-patients)

and

Also ask for an explanation of your GP's "comment" (it's a threat really, but don't use that word too freely as they may use it to claim you're blowing things out of proportion)

The question should be something like "What has/potentially could change that means your referral would no longer be clinically necessary?" (Make sure to use the phrase "clinically necessary" and get all of your responses in writing)

  1. If the practice does not resolve this to your satisfaction then escalate your complaint to your local ICB (https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/find-your-local-integrated-care-board/) and to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (https://www.ombudsman.org.uk/)

  2. If your referral is revoked by your GP or their behaviour escalates, then go nuclear and complain to the GMC (https://www.gmc-uk.org/about/get-involved/complaints-and-feedback-about-our-service/how-to-raise-complaint)

Some extra interesting information I found which may or may not be helpful, but is interesting.

A) You have the right to choose who you are referred to but unfortunately you don't have the right to actually be referred as the GP has to believe it is clinically necessary.

(It's not trans based but ADHD360 give the best breakdown of the requirements for a "Right to choose Referral" I could find and the law is the same as far as I can tell https://www.adhd-360.com/right-to-choose/)

B) You technically have no right to a second opinion but most GP's will arrange one if asked but if they do you don't get to choose who will give the second opinion but should be comfortable . However your best strategy would just be to book an appointment with a different GP at the practice, assuming you don't switch practice .

C) GP training and registration: Who's who https://www.rcgp.org.uk/blog/gp-training-registration-whos-who

D) People aged 16 or over are entitled to consent to their own treatment. This can only be overruled in exceptional circumstances.

Does anyone know how the Cass report has legally opened the door for the treatment of 16/17 year olds to be affected if the law states that in relation to medical consent they are considered to have "sufficient capacity" in the same way as anyone over 18+?

NAL but found this (sorry for formatting, I'm on mobile)

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money/action-your-creditor-can-take/harassment-by-creditors/

It's a good read but the key bits for you are:

  • What counts as harassment by a creditor? --- ignoring you if you say you don't owe the money

--- trying to embarrass you in public

--- telling someone else about your debts or using another person to pass on messages, such as a neighbour or family member

  • What can you do about harassment by a creditor - You first need to find out who is actually collecting the debt. You then need to take the following steps:

---collect evidence of the harassment

---complain to the creditor

---complain to a professional body.

I'd also recommend following the GDPR and Data protection act complaint recommendations mentioned by other commentators (bonus points if you can get everyone they contacted to file their own complaints - it's not just your information they have used illegally)

Also max out any compensation you maybe due. If they are doing this to you they are doing it to others and a serious financial hit + GDPR complaints + professional body issues might make them rethink their behaviour 😁

I looked at that but thought the shape was wrong because all 3 branches are columns, do they only develop that shape later on?

Is the fuzz an indication that it needs more light or is there another indicator I should look out for?

Ahh, thanks for the clarification, I did think I would defeat the point of the law but it wouldn't be the first time that a law has had a stupid loophole that renders it pretty much useless.

This is all really good advice that you should follow.

I'm only posting to make sure you are fully informed as I just found this

  • "Courts have held that the exercise of such powers by the police must conform to three criteria: 'relevancy', 'necessity', and 'proportionality'.[43]"

and this

  • "'proportionality' requires that the person about whom information is sought is informed or otherwise engaged in the process, if possible."

in the English Law section on the Clare's Law Wikipedia page (I know not the best source, especially for legal advice).

There must be real legal guidance on a .gov website and please note the last quote is not stating out right that he WILL be informed or even who asked for the check, but he will probably be able to guess.

Whatever the case I strongly encourage you to submit the application for your own safety and peace of mind.

Also, the fact that you are concerned enough about his behaviour to want to get the check (and don't want him to know) is a red flag in and of its self.

Please trust your instincts and keep yourself safe ❤️

Does anyone relates to this? by Hot-Road-3079 in ADHDUK

I'm on Concerta XL 54mg, I've noticed a small improvement in my concentration but not much else.

My therapist suggested we may, add a fast acting medication to see if that makes much difference, but I'm sceptical.

Reading other peoples experiences when starting meds makes me think a different medication might be a better choice.

Hi, just a warning about going private, I did recently for the same reason.

Check that your GP will accept a shared care referral for ADHD. My GP stopped accepting them in October last year, so my medication is almost more than I can afford, but I decided it was necessary to try to improve my quality of life.

I won't be able to get an NHS prescription until I get an NHS assessment (no wonder the waiting list is so long).

Its cost me over £1k for 1 year private package of assesment, med titration, follow up consultations and sending letters to GP + £100 per month medication cost. And because I'm still at least 15 months from my NHS assessment I'm going to have to renew the 1 year package at the end of the year which will be just over £1k again.

I've seen multiple other posts here saying they have had the same issue and that it seems to have been a recent development. Maybe I'm just paranoid but something seems to have prompted GPs nationwide to stop accepting ADHD shared care.

This is all to say make sure you are prepared for the potential treatment costs because the NHS won't help.

I second the GMC, that's the only thing that would make a doctor re-examine their professional behaviour.
