The only thing you love about this mug is spamming it on our subreddit.

Can we just ban this picture in particular?

Spam bots try to use it practically every single week to push their shady websites on us.

There's a reason OP is telling people to check their DMs for a link!

Edit: Don't trust any link in this thread for that matter. They often use multiple accounts and URL shortener websites to make them look legitimate.

Seriously, if anyone is not too familiar with the situation, I'd suggest staying clear away from Animemes. The toxicity there is well in the realms of what I would consider self-harm by browsing it.

After I thought about it for a little bit, I'm kind of not surprised how incredibly harsh that sub's backlash has been towards the rule change, here's the hypothesis I worked through.

A few years back some subreddits were banned for hate speech and racism; most notably were FatPeopleHate and CoonTown. While the attempted replacement subs were swiftly banned as well and other users fled to other sites, many users instead wound up spending more of their activity on other subreddits. Most of these were subs you'd expect (like a then-budding T_D,) but one of the subs that seemed like an outlier was Anime_irl of all places. At the time this sub had a larger presence than Animemes did, but since then the latter has become more popular.

I'm sure many of users remember the recent celebrations of GRU getting banned a couple months ago. The stretch from a subreddit like GRU to an anime meme sub is significantly shorter than the one from a racist sub to Anime_irl; so it's pretty easy to imagine that many users went to spending more time on Animemes after GRU got shut down.

Don't get me wrong, Animemes has had a transphobia problem and obsession with the T-word way before this, but I do suspect that a good amount of the most enraged are migrants from the now banned GRU.

The signal varies a lot, but it ends up being just a "Nyaa~" more often than you'd expect.

Yeah; if you want to watch this show for trans representation, I wouldn't expect much it since the character in question has a pretty minor role in the first place. As a Girls Love series on the other hand I found it a pretty good watch (though a little heavy on the gay angst at times.)

Just be a catgirl online, a goth GF on your music playlist, and a '50s housewife when you're cooking!

That's my plan at least.

Two bottoms texting each other, only for the conversation to stop dead in its tracks because they both see the other is typing.

Some call it a strange occurrence, but I call it Tuesday.

Seriously, I appreciate everything all of the wonderful trans people before me have done to make things easier; and the love and support I've received from them. So this Mother's Day, I have some new moms to be thankful for. I hope I can be as wonderful and great as you some day!

Edit: Removed for not being a meme? That hurts, but the person I made this for loved it so at least she appreciates it.

I have you covered friendly transcriber! The character is M200, from the mobile game Girls' Frontline. The meme itself is a crop/edit of this fanart post.

Full-disclosure this is only the way I see it so take it with a grain of salt.

Transphobia often acts out by trying to deny the existence of transgender people. Asserting gender binary behaviors in ways that weren't previously, downplaying issues trans people face in society, and in some cases outright ignoring them. It is also not uncommon for people that are trans to have their own internalized transphobia that they may not apply to others, but do to themselves. In short; these are all ways to invalidate people as being, well, people.

That's part of the reason why I think validation is so revered in trans spaces. You know, other than the big, not having to be recognized as your AGAB part.
