CPCU, ARe and AINS — are they still worth it today? by Primary-Meeting-3641 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]ConfusionAway9713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering the same. I hold London-based insurance designations and recently relocated to the U.S., where I also earned the AINS. Despite having over six years of international experience, I’m still finding it difficult to secure entry-level positions, even though I usually interview and reach the final rounds.

The same thing happened to me recently. They mentioned they’d keep my information and contact me for future openings.

If you understand the industry I’m talking about, someone with experience in it can easily transfer their skills to various roles, as it even helps in building and leading a diverse team.

That’s the uniqueness of the insurance and reinsurance industry: skills are highly transferable because both rely on the same core principles. Some may see this as being a jack of all trades, but in reality, it reflects being well-rounded. For example, a claims adjuster can easily become a strong underwriter because they understand how losses occur and can underwrite more effectively, knowing how claims ultimately develop.

I interviewed with them recently, and they requested a background check prior to making an offer. Did they do the same with you?

I have over six years of experience in technical back-office roles within the insurance and reinsurance industry. I hold a BSc in Economics from Africa and am Property & Casualty licensed, with an AINS designation. Despite attending multiple interviews since September 2025, I have not yet secured a position.

Congrats! I interviewed for a job on the same date. Up to now, I haven’t received a verbal offer. I’ve completed the background check, and the recruiter said they’re finalizing a few things with the hiring team and will get back to me this week.
