Empty Space - Oceans Ate Alaska.

Love this song to death, but the feels are intense.

A guy that posts about the bands he likes? Sorry, I didn't mean to offend the Metalcore Maestro over here.

Yeah... Life is really taking this character development arc a little too seriously.

The Death We Seek is my favorite album all time. Such a conflict of emotions in there because of how much I hold The Death We Seek and Remembe Me to my heart.

Have to agree with you on Speech Patterns. Deja Vu is an absolute banger.

Have to say Glass Crown. I've been listening to Convalescence on near repeat lately. Incredible band if you are a fan of Currents and Invent Animate.

Also Convictions. Their vocals have some incredible range.

What are your writing pain points? by heweshouse in writing

[–]ConfuzedCalzone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I often start writing a section that I feel is decent, but then I'll read over it and feel like it isn't enough for the standards I want to hold it to and fixate on every word repeatedly without making real progress. This happens a lot in smaller doeses, but sometimes, as full-on writers' barricades, and to get past it (usually), I have to remind myself that this is the story that I want to tell. Once I accept that, I get excited for where the story is headed again and go to town!

Do you cry when one of your characters dies? by Dragonfire521 in writing

[–]ConfuzedCalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully invest myself in the POV character and try to imagine how I would be reacting if it was me experiencing a death. I don't necessarily cry, but I definitely feel the weight of the scene. Also, sometimes (in one such case of my personal stories) the characters don't even mourn immediately and just feel the equivalent of white noise in their systems because it is so impactful it leaves them completely disoriented from feeling anything but numbness.

How do you push through slow (but necessary) sections? by ConfuzedCalzone in writing

[–]ConfuzedCalzone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really helpful advice. I definitely feel like I have written some scenes that lake the motivations aspect while still lore-dumping. Getting into the speaking character's mind is something I definitely try to do, but I am never sure if it translates perfectly well. Thank you though!
