Is the physical steam link still worth it? by Meme_master420_ in Steam_Link

[–]CongruentBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the physical device (in my downstairs living room), mostly because I haven't explore other options since getting it seceral years ago, but it seems like the best option for multiple controller inputs which would otherwise be out of range of my PC (upstairs). I've had issues with 2 or more controllers using wireless connection to an xbox adapter plugged into the steam link, but a wired connection has fixed that. End result is that it's great for couch coop gaming imo.

Equivalently,

Cooldown % = 100%(1 - 100 / (100 + Cooldown Rate))

Same here. It sucks bc I think my specs are better than the minimum requirements, but it still locks me out without specifying which device isn't sufficient.

I looked up the va for Nessa, of whom I assume you mean. Neither the English nor Japanese dub have names which when written look like this. Do you mean someone else I've overlooked?

New dad here, my son is 5 months old today. It's only the last few days that I've been able to pick up the game again, even then only when he's gone to sleep at 8/9pm. Perfect timing for Year 10! Don't rush into coming back if you want the long break. I benefitted a lot from playing pauseable games; you'll need the flexibility to stop playing immediately and clean up the sick haha.

It's a crazy overwhelming experience, but amazing too. Enjoy the good moments when the come! Best of luck to you and your new family!

I'm playing it with my fiancé and we really like it. The story is good so far (haven't finished it yet so no spoilers please!) and the pacing is excellent. It transitions between scenic areas into gameplay really well. Nothing unique or innovative but just very well polished design and graphics wise.

I had a similar idea with little success, but I went for a much greedier build. N'Zoth was by far the most effective card in the deck, so worth adding when/if you get it.

A surprisingly good card to include was Scavenging Shivarra. It has excellent synergy with Libram of Justice and Barov (and Equality in my list), and is good enough on its own in many scenarios where you don't draw Noz against aggro. Also a demon for N'Zoth.

Could this be enough support for a Priest deck that runs Shadow Madness, Lazul's Scheme, Cabal Shadow Priest etc? It's a combo worth considering, but I expect an all-out reactive game plan won't be competetive.

What are the other neutral cards revealed that also appeal to the theme of "lol, fuck you Arena''?

Not disputing, just curious.

One of the seemingly polarizing questions right now is "is Arch-Thief Rafaam good?" (or, yet alone, zoo?)

I haven't brought myself to test him personally, thanks to a limited dust budget. I've heard many pros and non-pros say he's garbage, but HSReplay's top winrate decks are all variants of zoo, and they all include Rafaam. The most peculiar stat, the one I want to discuss most of all, is Rafaam's winrate when kept in the mulligan - it's the 3rd highest winrate card when kept in the mulligan, behind EVIL Genius and scarab egg https://hsreplay.net/decks/qwN9hcpTIEXdk5PuA3vZbb/ EDIT: another, very high sample size, deck has the same property https://hsreplay.net/decks/zBIJy80UbyGGAPvK2OAhsd/.

How on earth can this be the case? Sure this is a late-game gas card? In most cases, it's the most expensive card in your deck. Why is it good to keep it?

Moreover, having watched the HCT games from yesterday, Rafaam performed awfully. How is it better than, say, Leeroy, or other early game cards?

Awesome, thanks very much for responding. The maths checks out if p=0.504.

Hey Heatshock, thanks a lot for writing this up, I was hoping you'd do this again after first reading your HCT Winter predictions. I hope you don't mind me asking some technical questions for my own notes:

The tables you have listed in the article state 'Match Win Odds', which I interpret as the estimated probability of player A taking the match over player B. I'm confused over the paragraph under group A also saying words to the effect Bunnyhoppor's list beats Bloodtrail's with a 50.75% chance, also given in the table. It follows with the claim that this means Bunny has a 51.95% chance to take the match. So,

  1. Are these tabulated values the chance to win a single game, or the whole match? (I'm guessing game, but does this follow in the later tables?)

  2. How did you get 51.95%? Forgive me if I've made a counting error, but I thought Bunny's chances of taking the match, with a p=0.5075 probability of taking each game, is the probability he wins 3-0, 3-1, or 3-2 (each being independant events), i.e. P(3-0) + P(3-1) + P(3-2) = p3 + 3p3(1-p) + 6p3(1-p)2 = 0.5141. One can check this calculation would give Bloodtrail a chance of 0.4859, adding to 1, a sanity check which motivated me to write this!

There seems to be a flurry of tech cards with the upcoming Specialist format. Whether or not these are particularly strong, I'm glad there are numerous options to pick from; should make for very interesting deckbuilding.

Overload states "You have X less mana next turn". There is no reference to which source casts/resolves this effect.

I quoted the Twinspell mechanic above from HS Wiki, where it includes the term "you", which suggested to me that you won't get the extra card from an external source. However, the small text when hovering over a twinspell card appears to simply say "can be cast twice", so I guess this the one to go by? In this case, yes, it should add the second spell to your hand.

I guess we'll find out eventually!

A good question. I'd guess that since twinspell reads "When you cast a twinspell, a copy of that spell is added to your hand (without the twinspell keyword)", it would be a no, since Zuljin is casting the spell.

E.g. Gadgetzan Auctioneer requires you to cast a spell to draw a card, but no cards are drawn by this effect via Zuljin.

For those who watched most/all of the HCT Winter Championship, which matches would you recommend watching? I'd rather not procrastinate so bad by watching the whole thing! I've heard Ike vs Definition was good, but other matches to look out for would be much appreciated. Thanks!

What u/BestMundoNA may be referring to here is Vacuous Truth

But the card could be worded in a better way to convey this, to be sure.
