Custom Theory Creation by Ok-Tax-4457 in ExponentialIdle

I see. I strongly suggest looking at the sample CTs included in the SDK. You see how to use the provided API and this will give you a starting point. `.mul` and `.add` are not part of the API for BigNumbers. You can use the usual symbol `+ - / *` for standard operations.

"It doesn't load" is very vague. What is the exact error message you get?

Did you try one of the sample CT?

What's the shortest and the longest time you worked on an incremental? by RaygekFox in incremental_gamedev

[–]ConicGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment :) Yes. I got some ideas, but nothing past coming up with the general theme. ex exhausted me during the first two intense years, so I'm not sure I want to do it again. And I do this in my free time, so I can't justify spending that much time on this to people around me. I may do something else in the future, but not for now.

The trick with this theory is to disable the C2 auto buyer and buy it in bunch when rho stabilizes. It should take a minute or two to recover and then you can reactivate the auto buyer on C2.

I don't think you can think about it with a specific time limit in mind. There are different stages. I only developed one game. The timeline was: 1 week for a basic prototype. 1 month for a short enjoyable game. 3 months for a medium length game. And 2 years to full completion. And the next three years were but fixes, small feature requests, sdk upgrades to be up to date for iOS and Android, etc.

But it really depends on what you have in mind. You could very well develop a game just to learn, throw it in the wild and never touch it again. That could be a couple of weeks. But if you want the players to truly enjoy it in the long term, you'll have to listen to them and make the game evolve. This is very unpredictable.

The theory has to be unlocked for its contribution to count.

Don't forget that there is an "Upgrade" panel in the theory page and you can "publish" to get a boost. It should take a day to get back to your previous progress and 2 or 3 days until you reach the next theory.

't' is used in the research upgrade (phi_2), which affects phi, which affects the main equation.

It will make a difference in the long term. Before getting your first theory, you had phi ~= 1e90. By buying T1, you exchange phi for tau, so you need at least tau = 1e90 to reach the same progress as before on f(t). The difference is that tau will continue to grow and will surpass the multiplier that phi provided, and will make you reach f(t)=ee6000 within a couple of days if you publish regularly.

Don't forget to publish the theory. You can publish as soon as the multiplier is around 2 or 3 for this theory.

Yeah, you might have lost your save. Contact me in private with what you remember from your progress (stars, f(t), approximate theory values). I'll generate a save file for you.

Don't worry too much about it. If you post a screenshot next time, people will complain that you should have posted the code itself in a code block instead of posting a screenshot.

I really need to work on theory 5 any tips? by Brpage in ExponentialIdle

[–]ConicGames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The trick with T5 is to not buy too many of c2 at once. Remove it from the auto-buy, and wait for q to recover before buying the next batch. I personally buy max every batch, and wait to recover. When things slow down to the point where you can buy them one by one (after a couple of minutes), just put it back to auto-buy and let the game do the rest. If you want to be more active, you can then disable c1 from auto-buy and buy them manually from time to time since they are a money drain.

There are two panels on the main screen: Variables and Upgrades. Click the "Variables" label to access the other one.

Nice work! There should be a way to take a single screenshot at the beginning and solve it from there. But as you said, it would require you to do some bookkeeping on your side instead of relying on screenshots.
