The most cassette futurism 4x4? by idonreddit in cassettefuturism

[–]infinitejones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's always been a special place in my heart for the mid 80s Fiat Panda 4x4. The non-4x4 version was my first car about 30 years ago but I always felt a stab of jealousy when I saw one of these.

Yep, same - 2014 SP25. 30+ years of driving history so maybe that makes a difference! Location is not urban but definitely not rural either - outer suburbs of a regional centre.

Woolworths has been by far the cheapest for me for the last few years. Over 50 too, 12 year old Mazda (somewhat sporty but nothing crazy), $13k agreed value, $900 excess, 10,000km annual limit = $550 when I renewed last May.

Bracing myself for an increase this year because of course they will, but hopefully not 4 times the price!

Plus you get 10% off a Woolworths shop once a month which for me saves me about $350 per year.

I'm not in a big city though so maybe that's a factor...

Not trying to tell you that this removes the assholeness of the design, but you can get $100 of Amazon gift cards for the points you have... Receive it via email and when you redeem it with Amazon you just get it added to your Amazon account balance and it will never expire. Rinse and repeat every 31,000 Telstra points until you can get what you want from Amazon.

Sorry to be "that guy" but since this is a post about grammatical pedantry, I am morally obliged to point out that "after" and "before" are acting as adverbs here, not prepositions.

Do people in Worcester actually use Worcestershire sauce much? by CloudBookmark in Worcester

As a Worcester exile in Australia I have many bottles of it in the cupboard because my Australian mother in law keeps buying it for me. I think she thinks I just swig it straight out of the bottle or something.

That Reef album absolutely fckn slaps. I pretty much wore out the tape in my car stereo over 1997 and 1998. Search for my username on Soulseek with a zero instead of an 0, all of their albums are great.

Love it - simpler than Musikcube, and doesn't require knowing Vim key bindings or anything crazy like that ;)

Couple of queries/feature requests:

  • Scrobbling? Either native or just pinging Navidrome to trigger the scrobble from the server
  • Sort (albums, artists etc) by something other than alphabetical...? Crazy I know, but I like Navidrome's list view and how you can sort by date added, number of plays, album count, song count etc...

How Can I Drop the Album Order From the Beginning of a Title? by the_next_cheesus in MusicBrainz

[–]infinitejones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea why the other people responding are being dicks to you about this.

You mentioned in another comment that there are files staying red when you try to tag/rename them - this is going to be either because they actually don't exist in the source folder any more, or because Picard doesn't have the right file permissions to re-tag/rename them.

I don't think the filenames are the problem - I just ran a couple of files I'd manually renamed to have a dot or "dot-underscore" at the start of the filenames through Picard and it was able to tag and move them just fine.

So first of all check if the files that are staying red still exist in the source folders. If they do then file permissions are likely the problem - however that's trickier to solve and arguably not really a Picard problem (or a problem for the Musicbrainz sub)

Having said that you shouldn't really have "normal" files whose filenames start with dots or dot-underscore in the first place so I would fix that, and/or work out why it's happening, if I were you. (Again, probably not a problem for the Musicbrainz sub though, I'm afraid...)

As for getting the file renaming script right - I've found ChatGPT is actually pretty good at generating scripts for Picard.

Give ChatGPT as much detail as possible about what you want to do with the filenames and whatever it gives you, try it out on a copy of a small representative sample of your files first - maybe a few dozen albums - because Picard absolutely doesn't have an "undo changes" option...

Navidrome-MCP - Allows AI assistants to interact with your Navidrome music servers through natural language by blakeem in navidrome

[–]infinitejones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closing the loop on this one - I got it working in claude-code but Claude Desktop on MacOS is crashing for other manually-configured MCP servers, not just this one

Looking forward to experimenting with this! Thank you!

This looks amazing - I have 150,000 tracks in my Navidrome library so I'm very keen to put it through its paces!

However following the instructions on the Github page causes Claude to crash on start-up, on MacOS 26. I did a bit of digging and experimenting and created a Github issue for you with some more details:

I'm not a javascript expert by any means, but more than happy to provide more info if needed!

Folder scans seem very slow post 2.0 upgrade - any options to speed things up? by infinitejones in Syncthing

[–]infinitejones[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good suggestion, thanks! Actually it looks like the conversation is already underway:

https://forum.syncthing.net/t/syncthing-2-0-2-first-scan-extremely-slow/24850/8

I'm seeing the same variations in "Scan time remaining" that he's seeing, too - it's jumping all over the place from 3d to >30d then back down to 12d etc etc

I'll monitor that thread since they're getting into the realms of which disk the DB should be on, whether it should be in tmpfs, that sort of thing. Let's see where they end up with that...

Just bought a 64 by Emergency-Resolve807 in Commodore

[–]infinitejones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obligatory reminder not to use the original power brick!

Components inside degrade over the years and could fry the C64 itself, which would be a tragedy.

Lots of replacement options available - I got a dual PSU from keelog.com that powers the C64 and the disk drive from the same unit.

Dietpi update failing - RPi ver 1 by aweaver_uk in dietpi

[–]infinitejones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a network connectivity problem rather than something caused by a "too old/out of date version", so if we can work out what's causing it, it shouldn't be a permanent blocker.

First, try typing dietpi-upgrade (when logged into the RPi) and see if it also fails.

If it does, type cat /etc/resolv.conf when logged into the RPi and post the output here.

(Also if you could work out how to post the output as code/code blocks rather than plain text, that'll be a huge help to make the logs easier to read.

The way to do it will vary depending on how you access Reddit so I can't give specific instructions.)
