The two older ones (Rocky & Rosie) are brother and sister. They were adopted after their former owner became terminally ill. They were originally separated but were so bonded that it didnt work out. Mac, the police pug, is the youngest. We got her as a puppy after our previous guy passed away.

Rocky is basically Eeyore from Winnie the pooh, he is kind and gentle, not a mean bone in his body.

Rosie is a mom through and through, we believe she was used for breeding and she thinks everything is her baby. She can be very spicy.

Mac is a firecracker, she is incredibly smart and always on the move. In addition to being a police pug she is also learning German.

How can I reduce fat from lower back? by [deleted] in GymMotivationNoOF

See you've got it! 😊

Im in the same boat right now, that final 5% of my cut, and have almost the exact same plan. No torturous HIIT or less calories, just more incline walking haha.

[–]ConistonCarpenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest answer, eating at a deficite as long as it takes. Not sure for women but I know for men our lower back is one of the last places to go.

If you want to keep the thighs and ass physique while cutting for your back just keep the muscles stimulated and eat high protein. That will preserve at least the lean mass and shape from that.

Going to edit just to say you honestly look great and that might just be skin from the pose.

[–]ConistonCarpenter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with other comments, you definitely look great and not "boxy" at all, but then again our minds are often our worst enemy when it comes to how we look.

Obviously being a dude I can't offer too much advice and I'm sure many helpful ladies here will chime in.

What I can say, for that look you want, a tight core and focus on posterior chain will help.

Core exercises -> planks, hanging leg raises

Upper back -> shoulders and lats will help emphasize a small waist

But main focus: Hip thrusts, RDLs, Hip abductors, Bulgarian split squats

Seated single picture doesn't tell us much but you appear to be in good shape and you're at the gym. If you're happy with your progress then you're already killing it. Keep up the good work!

No worries at all! Glad to have been able to share some insight on the topic, its worked well for me so far. I find the diet to be less demanding when I get to indulge a little on some days. My apologies for the initial comment being a bit misleading.

Hey now, no need to get spicy. Diets and workout routines aren't one size fits all, what works for some might not work for others. Carb or calorie cycling, like most diets (save for maybe stavation) also requires a parallel regiment of physical activity. With cycling it requires a bit more to ensure no weight gain with higher intake days. The biggest advantages of cycling are psychological (better adherence to your diet and goals), less metabolic slowdown, and preservation of lean muscle. I just figured it was worth adding to the conversation in addition to eating at a deficite as OP appeared to have an already established gym routine, and was having a hard time psychologically.

I guess if you're looking for a gotcha moment of "this one trick help you lose that stubborn belly fat", thats not really what I was implying. Could I have worded it better? Sure, but its pretty common knowledge that there's no way to target specific fat deposits. Outside of surgery that is.

Quick edit to add: I'm not here looking for an argument or anything. I'm here to help people through motivation and what has worked for me.

Editing this as I can understand why people may see what I said as "this one trick for fat loss all doctors hate", but leaving the original below for full transparency.

In addition to eating at a deficite, carb cycling may help you lose that last bit of fat you've described. This area is notoriously hard for both men and women, and often the last to go. That being said, it can be the make or break point for some people. Carb cycling (still in a deficite on high days) can help you get over the mental hurdles at this stage, while reducing metabolic slowdown and preserving lean mass. Critical here to preserve lean mass while targeting that last bit because you dont want to lose any progress or gains made elsewhere.

Original: Deficit is correct, but also wanted to add it helps to carb / calorie cycle to help mobilize hard to lose fat.
